  1. 21. Deriving biomarkers from computed tomography using deep learning

    Author : Meera Srikrishna; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CT; MRI; convoluted neural networks; deep learning; Dementia; Alzheimer s disease; Normal pressure hydrocephalus; brain segmentation;

    Abstract : X-ray computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are widely used structural neuroimaging modalities. For brain atrophy assessment and volumetric quantification using automated methods, MRI is the preferred modality due to its superior soft tissue contrast. READ MORE

  2. 22. Comorbidity and vascular risk factors  associated with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus : the INPH-CRasH Study

    Author : Hanna Israelsson Larsen; Jan Malm; Anders Eklund; Norman Relkin; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hydrocephalus; normal pressure; vascular disease; vascular risk factors; elderly; depression; case control study; epidemiology; dementia; vascular dementia; small vessel disease; cerebrovascular disease; transient ischemic attack; Neurology; neurologi;

    Abstract : Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (INPH) is a dementia treatable by insertion of a cerebrospinal fluid shunt. It has been suggested that INPH has similar pathophysiological mechanisms as cerebrovascular disease, but the vascular risk factor (VRF) profile of INPH patients has not been assessed using a modern epidemiological approach. 3. 23. Preterm intraventricular haemorrhage - Effects of extracellular haemoglobin

    Author : Snjolaug Sveinsdottir; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Intraventricular haemorrhage (IVH) is the most common brain lesion in preterm infants and is most commonly seen in the sickest children, with 15-20% of very preterm infants developing IVH. The mortality of infants with severe IVH is 20-50 % in the neonatal period and over 50 % of surviving infants develop post-haemorrhagic ventricular dilatation (PHVD) and 40-80 % develop severe neurological impairment, mainly cerebral palsy and mental retardation. 4. 24. Cerebral CT - and MRI perfusion: Techniques and clinical application in iNPH

    Author : Doerthe Ziegelitz; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cerebral perfusion; idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus; computed tomography perfusion; dynamic suceptibility contrast MRI;

    Abstract : Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is a disorder of the elderly, defined by slowly progressive impairment of gait and balance, cognitive decline, and incontinence. Disturbance of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) dynamics results in ventriculomegaly without intracranial pressure increase. READ MORE
