1. Drying of iron ore pellets : analysis with CFD
Abstract : Iron ore pellets are a highly refined product and for companies such as LKAB it is important to constantly improve the pelletization in order to enhance production and improve product quality. A long term goal has been established to develop and considerably refine tools and techniques with which the drying zone of a pelletizing plant can be optimized. READ MORE

2. Steam condensation in a water pool and its effect on thermal stratification and mixing
Abstract : The Pressure Suppression Pool (PSP) of a Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) is a large heat sink designed to limit the containment pressure by condensing steam released from the primary coolant system. The development of thermal stratification is a safety concern since it leads to higher containment pressures than in completely mixed conditions, and can affect the performance of systems such as the emergency core cooling and containment spray, which the use PSP as a source of water. 3. Development of fine-mesh methodologies for coupled calculations in Light Water Reactors
Abstract : This thesis presents fine-mesh multiphysics methodologies and algorithms for numerical predictions of the behavior of Light Water Reactor (LWR) cores. The multiphysics aspects cover the distribution of neutrons, the fluid flow of the coolant and the conjugate heat transfer between the solid fuel pins and the fluid coolant. READ MORE

4. Numerical Modelling of Subcooled Nucleate Boiling for Thermal Management Solutions Using OpenFOAM
Abstract : Two-phase cooling solutions employing subcooled nucleate boiling flows e.g. thermosyphons, have gained a special interest during the last few decades. This interest stems from their enhanced ability to remove extremely high heat fluxes, while keeping a uniform surface temperature. READ MORE

5. Precision cooling for C02 reduction
Abstract : Global climate is adversely affected by increasing emissions of carbon dioxide and other green-house gases. The road transport sector contributes significantly to these emissions. READ MORE
