1. Atmospheric corrosion of Mg and MgAl alloys – characterization and mechanisms
Abstract : The atmospheric corrosion of Mg and MgAl alloys was investigated. Corrosion tests were performed in the laboratory under controlled environment. CP Mg, AM50 and AZ91 samples were exposed at 95% RH and 22°C in the presence and in the absence of 400 ppm CO2 for 24 h to 672 h. The passive film was characterized by means of XPS, FTIR, AES and XRD. READ MORE

2. Characterization of interface states & radiation damage effects in duo-lateral PSDs : Using SEM microscopy and UV beam profiling techniques
Abstract : There has been an increase in the use of duo‐lateral position sensitive detectors inpractically every radiation and beam detection application. These devices unlike other light detection system utilize the effect of the lateral division of the generated photocurrent to measure the position of the integral focus of an incoming lightsignal. 3. Multimodal and multiscale characterization of bone and bone interfaces in health and disease
Abstract : Seeing is believing. Our understanding of phenomena often involves their direct observation. However, bone architecture is challenging to visualize given its multi-level hierarchical organization. READ MORE

4. Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for Heterogeneous Catalysis : Synthesis and Characterization
Abstract : Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are crystalline hybrid materials with interesting chemical and physical properties. This thesis is focused on the synthesis and characterization of different MOFs and their use in heterogeneous catalysis. READ MORE

5. Microstructural Characterization of Expanded Austenite in 304L and 904L Austenitic Stainless Steels
Abstract : Austenitic stainless steels are among the most used materials in modern industry, mainly because of their superior corrosion resistance. However, low hardness and poor tribological properties often restrict their applicability. READ MORE
