  1. 1. Charge Accumulation in Hybrid High Voltage Insulation

    Author : Mats Sjöberg; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : dielectric barrier; charge accumulation; high voltage; dielectric barrier discharge; dielectric coating; hybrid insulation; electric field distribution; discharge modelling; breakdown strength; charge conditioning;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the novel idea of controlling the electric stress or field distribution in a hybrid air - solid-dielectric high voltage insulation by promoting accumulation of surface charges on the internal interfacial layers in the combined (hybrid) dielectric structure. Primarily, applications are expected to be found in high voltage dc systems and as a method to improve the resistance against insulation failure by overvoltages, e. READ MORE

  2. 2. Flocculation with Polyelectrolytes in Latex and Microbial Systems

    Author : Leif Eriksson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; floc strength; shear sensitivity; fractal dimension; floc structure; patch flocculation; adhesion; bridging; flocculation; charge compensation; adsorption; ionic strength; molecular weight; charge density; Cationic polyelectrolytes; latex; bacteria; activ; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Adsorption of cationic polyelectrolytes onto polystyrene latices was studied as function of polymer chemical composition and molecular weight, polymer and surface charge density and ionic strength. The ratio between polymer charges and surface charges was close to one when distances between polymer and surface charges were equal. READ MORE

  3. 3. Triboelectric charge characteristics and electrical separation of industrial minerals

    Author : Hamid-Reza Manouchehri; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : Despite the fact that triboelectric separation process has not been completely perceived, it pronounced to be environmentally amiable and economically viable for minerals and wastes beneficiation, especially when fine particles with relatively similar electrical properties are being to be separated. Since the method mainly depends on the charges developed on particles for a successful separation, it is necessary to develop different charge polarities on minerals undergoing separation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Electrical Insulating Properties of Poly(Ethylene-co-Butyl Acrylate) Filled with Alumina Nanoparticles

    Author : Nadejda Jäverberg; Hans Edin; John Fothergill; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nanocomposites; poly ethylene-co-butyl acrylate ; EBA; alumina; dielectric permittivity; absorbed water; humidity; temperature; dielectric spectroscopy; breakdown strength; pre-breakdown current;

    Abstract : In this work the electrical insulating properties of the nanocomposite materials based on poly(ethylene-co-butyl acrylate) filled with alumina nanoparticles are studied. The dielectric properties chosen for the evaluation are the dielectric permittivity and loss as well as the breakdown strength and the pre-breakdown currents. READ MORE

  5. 5. Bacteria-sulfide mineral interactions with reference to flotation and flocculation

    Author : Annamaria Vilinska; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : Biological processes have been attracting attention in mineral processing industry due to their lower operating costs, environmental acceptability and flexibility in adaptation. Bio-hydrometallurgical methods to treat various sulfide and oxide ores have been developed during the years and these processes have been adopted by certain industries. READ MORE
