  1. 1. Selective Separation Of Wood Components In Internal Process Waters Originating From Mechanical Pulping

    Author : Dariusz Zasadowski; Magnus Norgren; Bjarne Holmbom; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; flotation; foaming agents; chelating surfactant; TMP process water; pitch control; internal cleaning stage; hemicellulose recovery; anti‐solvents; solvents; precipitation;

    Abstract : Dissolved and Colloidal substances (DSC) and metals are released from woodduring thermomechanical pulp (TMP) production. These components have atendency to accumulate in process waters, as the water circulation systems inintegrated paper mills are closed. READ MORE

  2. 2. Protein stabilization. Some methods and mechanisms

    Author : Maria Andersson; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sorbitol; protein stability; preferential exclusion; polyol; poly-NIPAAm; polymer; poly ethyleneimine ; polyelectrolyte; oxidation; NMR spectroscopy; lysozyme; lactate dehydrogenase; fluorescence; dynamic light scattering; complex; additive; circular dichroism; stabilization; trypsin; thermo-reversible polymer.; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : The effect of different additives on protein stability was studied, and the basis for stabilization was investigated at molecular level. The addition of sorbitol enhanced thermal stability of hen egg white lysozyme in aqueous solution. READ MORE

  3. 3. Application of Raman and Fluorescence Spectroscopy to Single Chromatographic Beads

    Author : Mina Larsson; Jan Lindgren; Jean-Claude Lassègues; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; agarose; chelating group; confocal Raman spectroscopy; confocal scanning laser microscopy; gold nanoparticles; ligand distribution; functional group; neodymium; polymer beads; Raman; SERS; surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Chromatography is a powerful technique, essential in chemical analyses and preparative separation in industry and research. Many different kinds of chromatographic material are needed, due to the large variety of applications. Detailed methods of characterisation are needed to design new chromatographic materials and understand their properties. READ MORE

  4. 4. Transition metal ion-chelating ordered mesoporous carbons as noble metal-free fuel cell catalysts

    Author : Johanna Dombrovskis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mesoporous materials; electrocatalysis; EXAFS spectroscopy; fuel cell; transition metals; carbon;

    Abstract : Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells offer promising possibilities for clean and efficient chemical to electrical energy conversion, though their high price makes them financially unappealing. This is to a large part due to the high cost of the noble metal catalyst used in fuel cells, which makes development of new, cheap and active catalyst materials necessary. READ MORE

  5. 5. Synthesis and Characterization of Functional Polymers Based on Trimethylolpropane Trimethacrylate and Glycidyl Methacrylate

    Author : Maria Walenius; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ethylhydroxyethyl cellulose derivative; trimethylolpropane; gels; compression; separation; pore surface; trimethacrylate; Copolymers;

    Abstract : Copolymers of trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TRIM) and glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) were prepared with various monomer-to-solvent ratios, GMA to TRIM ratios and with various types of porogens. These parameters affected the inner morphology of the polymers and various pore surface areas (100-500 m2/g) and pore size distributions were obtained. READ MORE
