  1. 11. Comparison of incineration and pyrolysis of NMC-lithium-ion batteries – determination of the effects on the chemical composition, and potential formation of hazardous by-products

    Author : Gabriele Lombardo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; vacuum; recycling; carbothermal; Keywords: Lithium-ion batteries; incineration; pyrolysis.;

    Abstract : Several industrial lithium battery recycling processes use thermal pre-treatment in an oxidative or inert atmosphere, or in a vacuum, to separate the battery components and remove organic material. However, a comparison of these pre-treatments on the microstructure and composition of waste material and production scrap LiBs has not been explored as well as there is a scarcity of information about the character of by-products generated during the processing. 2. 12. Effects of pyrolysis and incineration on the chemical composition of Li-ion batteries and analysis of the by-products

    Author : Gabriele Lombardo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NMC batteries; carbothermic reduction; pyrolysis; Lithium-ion batteries; metal recycling;

    Abstract : In the present work, the effects of pyrolysis and incineration on the composition of Li-ion battery cell materials and their dependence on treatment time and temperature were investigated. Waste from Li-ion batteries was treated at 400˚, 500˚, 600˚, and 700˚C for 30, 60, and 90 minutes. READ MORE

  3. 13. Multiscale modelling of total pressure effects on complete methane oxidation over Pd/Al2O3

    Author : Carl-Robert Florén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; palladium oxide; mass and heat transport; multiscale modelling; reactor modelling; methane oxidation; first-principles calculations;

    Abstract : The models used in heterogeneous catalysis are becoming more advanced and the literature shows an increased interest in incorporating the atomistic scale into microkinetics. Coupling kinetics based on first-principles calculations to macroscopic effects can pave the way towards more comprehensive modelling methods and to tailored catalyst designs. READ MORE

  4. 14. Chemical intolerance : disability and health aspects from a biopsychosocial perspective

    Author : Anna Söderholm; Ingrid Liljelind; Steven Nordin; Berit Edvardsson; Christer Jansson; Umeå universitet; []

    Abstract : Background: Chemical intolerance (CI) is a term used for individuals experiencing symptoms triggered by odorous and pungent substances such as perfume, cleaning agents, mold smell and tobacco smoke. The prevalence of CI range from 0.5-52% depending on definition, and it is overrepresented among women. READ MORE
