11. Multivariate Exploration and Processing of Sensor Data-applications with multidimensional sensor systems
Abstract : A sensor is a device that transforms a physical, chemical, or biological stimulus into a readable signal. The integral part that sensors make in modern technology is considerable and many are those trying to take the development of sensor technology further. READ MORE

12. Methanation of biosyngas in a fluidized bed reactor
Abstract : Rising prices for fossil fuels and concerns over the climate change increase the interest in renewable energies. Synthetic natural gas (SNG) can be an option, filling the request for alternatives in the transportation sector, where the dependence on the oil is very strong. READ MORE

13. Chemical analysis of complex mixtures with regard to potentially genotoxic organic compounds
Abstract : This thesis describes different methods for the extraction, fractionation, and analysis of particle adsorbed organic compounds. The utility of capillary gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for the analysis of polycyclic aromatic compounds (PAC) is demonstrated. READ MORE

14. Chemical mixtures and interactions with detoxification mechanisms and biomarker responses in fish
Abstract : Several classes of anthropogenic chemicals are present as mixtures in the aquatic environment. However, information of how wildlife species, including fish, are affected by exposures to chemical mixtures is limited. READ MORE

15. Microstructure and Gelation Behaviour of High Methoxyl and Low Methoxyl Pectin Gels and their Mixtures
Abstract : The objective of this thesis was to explore the functional behaviour of high methoxyl (HM), low methoxyl (LM) and mixed HM/LM pectin gels of different chemical characteristics with emphasis on microstructure and kinetic rheological behaviour. The rheological properties and the structure of pectin gel networks were investigated for pectins under different sucrose, calcium and pH conditions by the means of oscillatory measurements and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
