1. Exploring molecular interactions between polypeptide conjugates and protein targets : Manipulating affinity by chemical modifications
Abstract : In this thesis molecular interactions between polypeptide conjugates and protein targets were investigated. Polypeptides were derivatized with small organic molecules, peptides and oligonucleotides. New strategies were developed with the aim to increase affinities for proteins of biological interest. 2. Photocatalytic TiO2 thin films for air cleaning : Effect of facet orientation, chemical functionalization, and reaction conditions
Abstract : Poor indoor air quality is a source of adverse health effects. TiO2 coatings deposited on well-illuminated surfaces, such as window panes, can be used to fully mineralize indoor air pollutants by photocatalysis. READ MORE

3. Oxygen Carriers Materials for Chemical-Looping Technologies
Abstract : Carbon dioxide is the gas which contributes most to the greenhouse effect. It is released in large quantities from fossil fuel-based power plants around the world. It is generally accepted that a rapid decrease in the emissions of carbon dioxide is needed. READ MORE

4. Chemically Modified Metal Oxide Nanostructures Electrodes for Sensing and Energy Conversion
Abstract : The goal of this thesis is the development of scalable, low cost synthesis of metal oxide nanostructures based electrodes and to correlate the chemical modifications with their energy conversion performance. Methods in energy conversion in this thesis have focused on two aspects; a potentiometric chemical sensor was used to determine the analytical concentration of some components of the analyte solution such as dopamine, glucose and glutamate molecules. 5. Isolation and chemical modification of arabinoxylan and galactoglucomannan
Abstract : Today’s society is based on the use of fossil fuels, where oil is used as transportation fuel and as raw material in the petrochemical industry. Efforts are made to increase the use of bio-based materials, since oil is a non-renewable source and a greenhouse gas contributor. READ MORE
