36. Muspel and Surtr : CVD system and control program for WF6 chemistry
Abstract : CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) is an advanced technique for depositing a coating on a substrate. CVD implies that a solid phase is deposited on a normally heated substrate surface using a reactive, gaseous mixture. The reaction gas mixture must be carefully chosen to prevent homogeneous nucleation in the gas phase. READ MORE

37. Electron Microscopy Investigation of Detailed Microstructures of CVD TiAlN and TiN Coatings - Effects of Gas Flow and Substrate on Coating Microstructure
Abstract : This thesis contains studies of topics of relevance to increase the understanding of TiN and TiAlN coatings synthesized by chemical vapour deposition (CVD) and low pressure CVD (LPCVD), respectively. This work contains two parts: (i) nanolamella LPCVD TiAlN coatings that were found to show a spatial variation of their chemical composition and microstructure, which was influenced by the gas flow speed of reactants; (ii) microstructure of CVD TiN coating deposited onto a CoCrFeNi multi-principal element alloy (MPEA)substrate. 38. Modification of zeolites and synthesis of SAPO-templated carbon
Abstract : Zeolites are crystalline aluminosilicates with diverse structures and uniform porosities. They are widely used as catalysts, adsorbents and ion-exchangers in industry. Direct or post modifications optimize the performance of zeolites for different applications. In this thesis, IZM-2 and TON-type zeolites were synthesized, modified and studied. READ MORE

39. Corrosion of ferritic stainless steels used in solid oxide fuel cells - Investigation of novel coatings in single- and dual-atmosphere conditions
Abstract : Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) are systems that convert chemical energy into electrical energy. Their high electrical efficiency and clean emissions (when H2 is used as fuel) make them a strong candidate for replacing conventional conversion systems, such as combustion engines. READ MORE

40. Porous Cellulose Materials from Nano Fibrillated Cellulose
Abstract : In the first part of this work a novel type of low-density, sponge-like material for the separation of mixtures of oil and water has been prepared by vapour deposition of hydrophobic silanes on ultra-porous nanocellulose aerogels. To achieve this, a highly porous (> 99 %) nanocellulose aerogel with high structural flexibility and robustness is first formed by freeze-drying an aqueous dispersion of the nanocellulose. READ MORE
