  1. 11. Uncertainty Estimation in Models of Multivariate Trait Evolution on Given Phylogenies

    Author : Woodrow Hao Chi Kiang; Krzysztof Bartoszek; Fredrik Ronquist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phylogenetic comparative methods; Branching stochastic processes; Fylogenetiska jämförande metoder; Förgrenade stokastiska processer;

    Abstract : Phylogenetic comparative methods are a set of statistical methods that model the evolutionary history of species, especially in the context where one has data on certain traits of related extant species that have evolved over a phylogenetic tree in accordance to an underlying stochastic process. This thesis presents a Hessian-based closed-form asymptotic confidence region that covers a wide family of Gaussian continuous-trait evolution models; the result has been implemented in an R package. 2. 12. Exploring the Magnetism of Ultra Thin 3d Transition Metal Films

    Author : Cecilia Andersson; Olof Karis; Dimitri Arvanitis; Chi-Chang Kao; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Physics; thin film; xmcd; xrms; exafs; anisotropy; magnetism; Fe; Ni; Co; Ag; Cu; Fysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis the magnetic and structural properties of ultra-thin 3d transition metals films have been investigated, in particular Fe, Ni and Co films. X-ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism (XMCD) has provided element specific spin (ms ) and orbital (ml ) moments per atom by utilizing the magneto optic sum-rules. READ MORE

  3. 13. Phosphate and Arsenic Cycling under Experimental Early Proterozoic Marine Conditions

    Author : Christoffer Hemmingsson; Iain Pitcairn; Ernest Chi Fru; Per Andersson; Christophe Dupraz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DIP; Early Proterozoic; coprecipitation; adsorption; Iron formations; BIF; geokemi; Geochemistry;

    Abstract : Nutrient dynamics in the Archean-Paleoproterozoic oceans strongly influenced primary productivity and the rise of atmospheric O2. Reconstructing the cycling of key nutrients such as dissolved inorganic phosphate (DIP) at this time is important for our understanding of the timing, rate and extent of atmospheric oxygenation at this time. 4. 14. Mechanistic investigations of chemical reactions on 2D MXenes and metal surfaces from first-principles

    Author : Kaifeng Niu; Jonas Björk; Johanna Rosén; Lifeng Chi; Daniele Passerone; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Density functional theory; 2D MXenes; On-surface synthesis; C-H activation; Electrochemical nitrogen reduction;

    Abstract : Chemical reactions on surfaces play a central role both for our daily life and industrial purposes, including the storage and release of energy, as well as the formation of new materials. To achieve high efficiency, catalysis lies in the heart of chemical reactions as it plays a critical role in accelerating the chemical transformation to target products. READ MORE

  5. 15. Audiologic and cognitive long-term sequelae from closed head injury

    Author : Per-Olof Bergemalm; Erik Borg; Tapani Jauhiainen; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; History of medicine; Closed head injury; CHI; sensorineural hearing loss; SNHL; cognition; TIPS; tinnitus; vertigo; memory; quality of life; QOL; Gothenburg profile; Medicinhistoria; History of medicine; Medicinens historia; Medicinsk handikappvetenskap; Medical Disability Research;

    Abstract : Objectives – Head injury is an important health problem all over the world. Previous studies have shown that peripheral hearing impairment (HI) is a common sequel of closed head injury (CHI), but in most cases it will subside within the first posttraumatic months. READ MORE
