1. Prediction of Chloride Penetration into Saturated Concrete Multi-Species Approach
Abstract : The cost due to rehabilitation of corroded reinforced concrete structures is a worldwide matter of concern. The mechanisms of reaction-diffusion involved during the transport of chloride ions into saturated concrete, which are initiating the corrosion process, are therefore studied in this thesis. 2. Long-term performance of poly(vinyl chloride) cables : mechanical and electrical performances and the effect of plasticizer migration
Abstract : Cables insulated with plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) were aged at temperatures between 80 and 180 °C in air and their conditions were assessed by indenter modulus measurements, tensile testing, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and liquid chromatography (HPLC). Electrical testing of oven-aged cable samples was performed in order to relate the electrical functionality during a high-energy line break accident to the mechanical properties and to establish a lifetime criterion. 3. DFT calculations of initial localized corrosion of aluminum : Influence of aqueous ad-layer, chloride ions, and intermetallic particles
Abstract : Localized corrosion of aluminum (Al, here including Al alloys) involves a series of physico-chemical processes at the interface between the metal and the aqueous ad-layer or the aqueous solution. The mechanisms that govern localized corrosion are quite complex and have been the subject of many experimental studies. READ MORE

4. Studies of the efficiency of granulated blast furnace slag and limestone filler in mortars - long term strength and cloride penetration
Abstract : This report is the first part of the project Use of industrial by-products and filler in concrete - long term properties/durability. The aim is to improve the knowledge of long term properties/durability of cement and concrete produced using industrial by-products/fillers in order to promote an efficient, safe, reliable and increased use of such types of materials. 5. Chloride Induced Corrosion of Steel Bars in Fibre Reinforced Concrete
Abstract : Chloride-induced corrosion of reinforcement is the most widespread degradation mechanism affecting the durability of reinforced concrete structures. Macro-cracks provide a preferential path for moisture, oxygen and Cl ions to reach the embedded reinforcement, playing a major role in their total transport. READ MORE
