1. Uncharted Waters : Non-target analysis of disinfection by-products in drinking water
Abstract : Disinfection by-products (DBPs) are potentially toxic compounds formed when drinking water is treated with disinfectants, such as chlorine or chloramine. A large proportion of the exposure to DBPs is still unknown and the health risks observed through epidemiological studies cannot be explained by DBPs known today. READ MORE

2. Chlorinated organic pollutants in soil and groundwater at chlorophenol-contaminated sawmill sites
Abstract : Mixtures of chlorinated organic pollutants can be found in the soils at chlorophenol-contaminated sawmill, including (inter alia) polychlorinated phenols (CPs), phenoxyphenols (PCPPs), diphenyl ethers (PCDEs), dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and dioxins (PCDDs). These hydrophobic compounds have low water solubility and hence low mobility as truly dissolved compounds. READ MORE

3. Longterm performance of polyolefins in different environments including chlorinated water: antioxidant consumption and migration and polymer degradation
Abstract : The long-term performance of stabilized polyolefins in different environments was studied with focus on antioxidant consumption and migration. Plaques of linear polyethylene (LPE) and branched polyethylene (BPE) were stabilized with Santonox® R (4,4'-Thiobis(6-tert-butyl-3-methylphenol)), Irganox® 1081 (2,2’-Thiobis(4-methyl-6-tertbutylphenol)), or Lowinox® 22M46 (2,2’-Methylenebis(6-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol)). 4. Degradation of polyethylene pipes distributing chlorinated water : depletion of stabilizers, release of degraded products and polymer degradation
Abstract : This thesis presents the study of antioxidants depletions in chlorinated media (10 ppm Cl2 - and ClO2 - aqueous media), polyethylene pipes degradations scenarios and migration of the degraded species to aqueous phase. Pressure testing on pipes and squalane testing with controlled pH aqueous media (6.8 ± 0. READ MORE

5. Chlorinated Paraffins: improved understanding of their bioaccumulation and toxicity in Daphnia magna
Abstract : Chlorinated paraffins (CPs) are industrial chemicals, mainly used as flame retardants, plasticizers and metal cutting fluids. Their production has reached historically high levels in the last decade, with an annual production exceeding one million tonnes. READ MORE
