    Abstract : Hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) and protein kinase B (PKB) are enzymes that in different ways are associated with lipid metabolism. While HSL is the well-known lipolytic enzyme responsible for hydrolysis of stored triacylglycerols in adipose tissue, PKB is a recently identified serine/threonine protein kinase, ubiquitously expressed and involved in signal transduction pathways induced by insulin and growth factors. 2. 2. Esterification of long-chain fatty acids to cholesterol and ethanol : role of acyltransferases and carboxylesterases

    Author : Margareta A Diczfalusy; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The aim of the present thesis was to investigate esterification of long-chain fatty acids to cholesterol and ethanol. The esterification products, cholesteryl esters and ethyl esters, may under certain circumstances accumulate in some cell types and tissues and cause pathological changes. READ MORE
