  1. 6. Neuroendocrine Stress Response after Burn Trauma

    Author : Andreas Lindahl; Bengt Gerdin; Lisa Ekselius; Kristofer Rubin; Riddez Louis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Burn; Injuries; Neuroendocrine; Intensive Care; Cortisol; Chromogranin A; Natriuretic peptides; Plastikkirurgi; Plastic Surgery;

    Abstract : Some aspects of the stress response during acute intensive care for severe burns are described and quantified by measuring hormonal and neuroendocrine patterns and relating these to organ function in the short term. This includes an assessment of whether there are markers for the severity of stress that are better than conventional descriptors of the severity of a burn in predicting failing organ function. 2. 7. Prostate cancer and neuroendocrine differentiation. Molecular aspects in prostate cancer development

    Author : Nastaran Monsef; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; neuron specific enolase; neuroendocrine differentiation; serotonin; hypoxia; cancer stem cell; synaptophysin; Gleason score; chromogranin A; Gleason grade;

    Abstract : Hormone refractory prostate cancer occurs when androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) fails to stop the growth of prostate cancer for any longer. Recent studies point towards a role for neuroendocrine (NE) differentiation in the development of hormone refractory disease. READ MORE

  3. 8. Effect of Cholecystokinin-B/Gastrin Receptor Antagonists on Rat Stomach ECL Cells

    Author : Xi-Qin Ding; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacognosy; Pharmacological sciences; vävnadskultur; histokemi; cytokemi; Histologi; tissue culture; histochemistry; gastrin; cholecystokinin CCK receptors; ECL cells; CCK-B gastrin receptor antagonists; histidine decarboxylase HDC ; histamine; pancreastatin; chromogranin A CGA ; gastric acid secretion.; cytochemistry; Histology; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi;

    Abstract : The histamine- and pancreastatin- containing ECL cells in the acid-producing mucosa of the rat stomach operate under the control of circulating gastrin. The present work examines how cholecystokinin (CCK)-B/gastrin receptors regulate the activity of the ECL cells. READ MORE

  4. 9. Chromogranin a epitopes catestatin and vasostatin : evaluation of their potential use as clinical biomarkers for psychological and pain-induced stress in dogs

    Author : Thanikul Srithunyarat; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Psychological and physiological factors, including pain, can induce a stress response. All today’s available methods for evaluating stress in dogs have shortcomings and it is therefore necessary to identify and evaluate new biomarkers. Chromogranin A (CgA) is a useful biomarker for stress assessment in humans. READ MORE

  5. 10. Towards Immunotherapy of Midgut Carcinoid Tumors

    Author : Sofia Vikman; Thomas Tötterman; Valeria Giandomenico; Bengt Widegren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Immunology; midgut carcinoid; gene expression; immunotherapy; tumor antigen; VMAT-1; T cell; HLA-A*0201-binding peptide; IFNγ; regulatory T cell; Immunologi;

    Abstract : Classical midgut carcinoids belong to neuroendocrine tumors of the gastroenteropancreatic tract (GEP-NETs) and are associated with serotonin overproduction. The term midgut is derived from the tumors’ embryological site of origin: enterochromaffin cells in the lower jejunum, ileum, caecum and the ascending colon. READ MORE
