  1. 21. From a candidate region to gene characterization : analysis of three new genes with respect to meningioma tumorigenesis

    Author : Myriam Peyrard; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : meningioma; central nervous system; monosomy 22; tumor suppressor gene; ADTBI BAM22 gene; clathrin-coated vesicles; adaptin; assembly protein;

    Abstract : Meningioma is a common and usually benign tumor arising from the meninges covering the central nervous system (CNS). The yearly incidence of symptomatic meningiomas is 1.2 cases per 100 000 individuals but autopsy findings reveal an occurrence ten times higher. READ MORE

  2. 22. Molecular progression and clonality or urinary bladder cancer

    Author : Jari Louhelainen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The general aim of this work was to investigate the clonality of multifocal bladder tumours, chromosomal deletions and model the initiation-progression of bladder tumours at a molecular level using microsatellite analysis. In a population-based study, we found correlation between stage and grade and the prevalence of loss of heterozygosity (LOH) at all observed chromosome 13 loci and stage and grade, respectively. 3. 23. Cytogenetic studies of primary and metastatic breast cancer

    Author : Adewale Adeyinka; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; histokemi; cytokemi; Histologi; tissue culture; cytochemistry; histochemistry; Histology; metastases; prognosis; male breast cancer; breast cancer; trisomy 12; Cytogenetics; chromosomes; vävnadskultur; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : A series of primary and metastatic breast carcinomas obtained from female and male patients were cytogenetically analysed. Trisomy 12 was identified as a recurrent and sometimes early event in breast carcinogenesis. READ MORE

  4. 24. Gene mapping of atopic dermatitis

    Author : Cilla Söderhäll; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Atopic dermatitis is a hereditary, pruritic, inflammatory and chronic skin disease that typically presents in early childhood. It is often associated with other atopic manifestations, such as asthma, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, and elevated total and/or allergen-specific serum lgE levels. READ MORE

  5. 25. Genetic alterations in Scandinavian neuroblastoma tumors

    Author : Katarina Ejeskär; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neuroblastoma; loss of heterozygozity; deletion; 1p; 3p; CDC2L1; TP73; CORT; FHIT;

    Abstract : The results presented here derive from our efforts to find genes and chromosomal regions of interest in the formation and progression of the childhood tumor neuroblastoma.Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid tumor of childhood. READ MORE
