  1. 1. Sex chromosomes in willows

    Author : Pascal Pucholt; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet.; [2016]

    Abstract : Sexual reproduction is found in most eukaryotes and has in the majority of animal species led to the evolution of separate sexes. In contrast, only 5-6% of all angiospersms are dioecious with female and male flowers on separate individuals. Interestingly, dioecy has evolved hundreds of times independently and at different timepoints in angiosperms. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mutation and Diversity in Avian Sex Chromosomes

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Hannah Sundström; Uppsala universitet.; [2003]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; mutation rate; diversity; sex chromosomes; indels; male bias; selective sweep; effective population size; birds; Genetik; MEDICINE Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine Clinical genetics; MEDICIN Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : Sex chromosomes are useful for the study of how factors such as mutation, selection, recombination and effective population size affect diversity and divergence.A comparison of gametologous introns in seven different bird species revealed a complete lack of diversity on the female-specific W chromosome. 3. 3. Molecular architecture of meiotic chromosomes

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Cell and Molecular Biology

    Author : Ivana Novak; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2006]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Meiosis; Chromosome architecture; Synaptonemal complex; Cohesin complex;

    Abstract : Faithful chromosome segregation at each cell division is essential as the formation of cells with an abnormal number of chromosomes (aneuploid cells) can result in infertility, developmental defects or cancer. Aneuploidy occurs in approximately 20% of all conceptions, causing infertility and embryo death. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cytogenetic studies of primary and metastatic breast cancer

    University dissertation from Department of Clinical Genetics, Lund University

    Author : Adewale Adeyinka; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1999]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; histokemi; cytokemi; Histologi; tissue culture; cytochemistry; histochemistry; Histology; metastases; prognosis; male breast cancer; breast cancer; trisomy 12; Cytogenetics; chromosomes; vävnadskultur; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Cancer är en genetisk sjukdom, som uppkommer genom ansamling av icke-letala mutationer. Dessa mutationer, som kan ske på både DNA- och kromosomnivå, ger cellen tillväxtfördelar och leder till klonal expansion av en cellpopulation som står utanför de normala tillväxtkontrollerna. 5. 5. Cytogenetic abnormalities in Acute Myeloid Leukemia in Sweden. A population based study

    University dissertation from Stam Cells Centrum (SCC)

    Author : Vladimir Lazarevic; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2015]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; AML; karyotype; population-based studies; prognosis; chromosomes; hyperdiploidy;

    Abstract : The impact of cytogenetic findings in AML was analyzed in the large population-based Swedish AML registry. Karyotypic patterns differed by age: t(8;21), inv(16) and t(11q23) were more common in younger patients, whereas loss of 5q, 7q and 17p, monosomal karyotype (MK) and complex karyotype (CK) were more common in older patients.
