  1. 11. Tumor-targeted superantigens for experimental immunotherapy of human leukemia/lymphoma

    Author : Cecilia Weigelt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; SAg; SEA; SEAm; HLA class II; TCR; CFL; SDCC; cytotoxicity; TNF a; IFN g; mAb; PA-SEAm; anti-CD19-Fab-SEAm; B-CLL; B-NHL; AML; CML; immunotherapy; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Clinical Immunology; klinisk immunologi;

    Abstract : Bacterial superantigens (SAgs) have the property of stimulating high proportions of T cells expressing certain TCR Vβ sequences. The SAg first binds with high affinity to HLA class II molecules on the target cell and then stimulates the T cell to produce cytokines and to become cytotoxic. READ MORE

  2. 12. Molecular Genetic Studies of Ph-positive Leukemias and the BCR and ABL Genes

    Author : Thoas Fioretos; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CRKL; CRK; ABL; BCR; acute lymphoid leukemia; chronic myeloid leukemia; Philadelphia chromosome; Molecular Genetics; Cytogenetics; IFN-alfa; Haematology; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Abstract : In the present thesis molecular genetic methods were used to address different biological and clinical aspects of Philadelphia (Ph) chromosome-positive leukemias and the BCR and ABL genes. In the first study, children with Ph-positive chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) were found to have essentially the same breakpoint locations in BCR as adults, a pattern which differs from the one seen in Ph-positive acute lymphoid leukemia (ALL). 3. 13. Chronic myeloid leukemia-clinical, experimental and health economic studies with special reference to imatinib treatment

    Author : Lotta Ohm; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : CML is a malignant disease that originates in the bone marrow stem cell, carrying the Philadelphia chromosome with the BCR-ABL fusion gene. This gene translates into an active tyrosine kinase, Bcr-Abl, affecting hematopoiesis, particularly resulting in increased numbers of white blood cells in the peripheral blood. READ MORE

  4. 14. WILMS’ TUMOUR GENE 1 PROTEIN (WT1) – AN EFFECTOR IN LEUKEMOGENESIS?

    Author : Karina Vidovic; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; WT1 delZ ; leukemia; BCR ABL1; hematopoiesis; NDRG2; IRF8; WT1;

    Abstract : Wilms’ tumour gene 1 (WT1) encodes a zinc-finger transcription factor functioning as a key regulator in organ development. WT1 was first identified as a tumour suppressor gene due to its inactivation in Wilms’ tumour cases, a childhood kidney cancer. READ MORE

  5. 15. Expression profiling using manifold supports

    Author : Anette Hagberg; Joakim Lundeberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; mRNA; expression; minimal residual disease MRD ; chronic myeloid leukemia CML ; recombinant human erythropoietin r-HuEpo ; anemia; insulin dependent diabetes mellitus IDDM ; transplantation; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Medical Genetics; medicinsk genetik;

    Abstract : Analyses of mRNA provides a condensed view of gene structure and quantitative analysis can reveal the induction of physiological or pathological gene expression programs. This thesis describes a new method for mRNA isolation, followed by sensitive real time detection via polymerase chain reaction (PCR), in order to quantitate transcripts of interest. READ MORE
