    Abstract : This work focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application projections of low-coordinated heavy pnictogen-containing (described by the generic letter E, hence E=C) phosphaalkenes (P=C) and arsaalkenes (As=C), with emphasis on the E=C group motifs. The work aims to understand their functional and modular character, reactivity, and potential applications by stabilizing, isolating, and characterizing these species in low-coordination environments. 2. 2. Electrochemical and ion transport characterisation of a nanoporous carbon derived from SiC

    Author : Marcelo Zuleta; Pehr Björnbom; Derek Pletcher; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; Cottrell equation; radial diffusion; chronoamperometry; potential step measurements; microelectrode technique; nanoporous carbon; Kemiteknik; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : In this doctoral project, a relatively new form of carbon material, with unique narrow pore size distribution around 7 Å and with uniform structure, has been electrochemically characterised using the single particle microelectrode technique. The carbon has been used as electrode material for supercapacitors. READ MORE

  3. 3. Motion and Emotion : Functional In Vivo Analyses of the Mouse Basal Ganglia

    Author : Emma Arvidsson; Åsa Wallén-Mackenzie; Cecilia Flores; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : A major challenge in the field of neuroscience is to link behavior with specific neuronal circuitries and cellular events. One way of facing this challenge is to identify unique cellular markers and thus have the ability to, through various mouse genetics tools, mimic, manipulate and control various aspects of neuronal activity to decipher their correlation to behavior. 4. 4. Neurobiological Consequences of Social Conditions and Alcohol Exposure in Adolescent rats

    Author : Linnea Granholm; Ingrid Nylander; Anne-Lie Svensson; Erika Roman; Maria Ellgren; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Adolescence represents a time of extensive reorganisation and maturation of brain circuits involved in emotions, motivation and cognition and it is a period particular sensitive for external stimuli. External stimuli can be both socio-environmental factors and exposure to exogenous compounds such as drugs of abuse (e.g. alcohol). READ MORE

    Abstract : Experiences early in life or during adolescence modulate neuronal networks in the immature brain and consequently lay the foundation for future susceptibility or resilience towards psychiatric disorders. The objective in this thesis is to understand, in part, how the surrounding environment shapes the brain of a young individual. READ MORE
