Completed after 1471 by a canon of Uppsala, Ericus Olai, it testifies to the articulation at the Swedish arch see of the dominant political issues of the day: the status of the Swedish realm in the union with Denmark-Norway, and the relations between the king, aristocracy and ecclesiastical leadership.     Abstract : Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are the brightest events in the Universe, for a short time outshining the rest of the Universe combined, as they explode with isotropic equivalent luminosities up to $10^{54}$ erg s$^{-1}$.     Abstract : This thesis is based on research made by the intermediate Palomar Transient Factory [(i)PTF], and it is particularly closely tied to the still ongoing research on the stripped-envelope (SE) supernova (SN), iPTF13bvn (Type Ib), that occurred in the nearby galaxy NGC 5806. This SN was initially thought to have been the explosion of a very massive Wolf-Rayet (WR) star, but I have shown that this is very likely not the case. READ MORE

    Abstract : This thesis is concerned with the Romanian Orthodox poet, director of the journal G�ndirea, and theologian, Nichifor Crainic (1889-1972), and with the two over-arching ecclesiological themes in his writings between 1922 and 1944 ? the pancosmic Church and specificul rom�nesc (the particularity of Romanian identity). Though these are fundamentally related to each other, there are many tensions between them, as the relationship between local and particular identity and pancosmic universality is worked out against the complex political backdrop of 20-th century Romania.
