  1. 1. Biogas Production from Citrus Wastes and Chicken Feather : Pretreatment and Co-digestion

    Author : Gergely Forgács; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; anaerobic digestion; pretreatments; co-digestion; economic analyses; citrus wastes; feather; Energi; material; Resursåtervinning; Resource Recovery;

    Abstract : Anaerobic digestion is a sustainable and economically feasible waste management technology, which lowers the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs), decreases the soil and water pollution, and reduces the dependence on fossil fuels. The present thesis investigates the anaerobic digestion of waste from food-processing industries, including citrus wastes (CWs) from juice processing and chicken feather from poultry slaughterhouses. 2. 2. Citrus Waste Biorefinery: Process Development, Simulation and Economic Analysis

    Author : Mohammad Pour Bafrani; Mohammad Pourbafrani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; process simulation; encapsulated yeast; Citrus wastes; economic analysis; computational fluid dynamic simulation; pectin; limonene; methane; ethanol;

    Abstract : The production of ethanol and other sustainable products including methane, limonene and pectin from citrus wastes (CWs) was studied in the present thesis. In the first part of the work, the CWs were hydrolyzed using enzymes – pectinase, cellulase and β-glucosidase – and the hydrolyzate was fermented using encapsulated yeasts in the presence of the inhibitor compound ‘limonene’. 3. 3. Biological Pretreatment and Dry Digestion Processes for Biogas Production

    Author : Regina Patinvoh; Thierry Ribeiro; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solid wastes; Dry anaerobic digestion; Textile bioreactor; Plug flow bioreactor; Digestate; Process stability; Pretreatment; Co-digestion; Mesophilic; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Abstract : Biogas technology has been used quite extensively to generate renewable energy from organic wastes while also recycling nutrients in the wastes and reducing harmful emissions. However, the challenges of low biogas yield from recalcitrant and inhibitory solid wastes together with high construction and operation costs of bioreactors have impeded optimal performance through this process. 4. 4. Methane and Volatile Fatty Acids Production from Toxic Substrate

    Author : - Lukitawesa; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; toxic substrate; methane; volatile fatty acid; anaerobic digestion; membrane bioreactor; factor; tubular membrane; two-stage digestion; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Abstract : Challenges caused by climate change and global warming have created a demand for improvements in resource recovery and the promotion of a circular economy. Waste management is one such challenge for which more recycling options are required for producing materials and energy sources from wastes. READ MORE
