  1. 21. Causal links of past climate change in Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 climate models

    Author : Thanh Le; MERGE: ModElling the Regional and Global Earth system; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; solar forcing; volcanic forcing; greenhouse gases radiative forcing; Granger causality; near-surface air temperature; ENSO; IOD; CMIP5; North Atlantic;

    Abstract : The climate system is influenced by various external forcings (e.g. volcanic forcing, solar forcing and change of greenhouse gas concentrations) and its own internal climate variability. READ MORE

  2. 22. Primary Marine Aerosol Production : An experimental study based on Arctic Ocean water and a sea water proxy

    Author : Julia Zábori; Margareta Hansson; Gordon McFiggans; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic Ocean; primary marine aerosol; climate change; sea water physical properties; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the interplay between the physical properties of ocean water and primary marine aerosol (PMA) emissions in the context of a rapidly changing Arctic climate. PMAs are an important part of the climate system due to their ability to interact with incoming solar radiation and to influence cloud properties. READ MORE

  3. 23. Petermann Glacier Ice Shelf in a warming world : Insights from 3-D numerical modelling of ice shelf-ocean interactions at Petermann Fjord, Northwest Greenland

    Author : Abhay Prakash; Nina Kirchner; Qiong Zhang; Riko Noormets; Hans Burchard; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; climate change; Greenland; ice shelf-ocean interactions; numerical ocean modelling; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Abstract : The Greenland Ice Sheet (GrIS) is currently the largest contributor to global mean sea level rise, and contemporary mass loss rates are likely lower bounds for the rates to be observed in decades to come. At present, marine outlet glaciers along the northern GrIS margin, with an ice volume estimated at 400 cm mean global sea level rise equivalent, are still largely buttressed by ice shelves. 4. 24. Factors regulating the origin and magnitude of carbon dioxide emissions from high-latitude lakes

    Author : Hendricus Verheijen; Jan Karlsson; Cristian Gudasz; David A. Seekell; Marcus Klaus; Anne Ojala; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lake; carbon dioxide; organic carbon; inorganic carbon; arctic; emission; environmental science; miljövetenskap; climate change; klimatförändringar; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : Lake ecosystems receive, transmit and process terrestrial carbon and thereby link terrestrial, aquatic and global carbon cycles. Most lakes evade CO2 to the atmosphere, but the annual magnitude of CO2 evasion, as well as sources and mechanisms underpinning CO2 evasion from lakes are still largely unresolved. READ MORE

  5. 25. Experimenting for change? : The politics of accomplishing environmental governance through smart energy pilot projects

    Author : Fredrik Envall; Harald Rohracher; Dick Magnusson; Josefin Wangel; Matthew Cashmore; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; environmental governance; political rationality; experiment; smart energy; socio-technical perspective; knowledge politics; power relations; infrastructure.; miljöstyrning; politisk rationalitet; experiment; smarta nät; socio-tekniskt perspektiv; kunskapspolitik; maktrelationer; infrastruktur.;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates how smart energy experimentation arranges environmental governance in Sweden, focusing on the politics of such processes, against the background of an escalating environmental and climate crisis that necessitates urgent energy transformation. Empirically the thesis includes case studies of pilot projects in Stockholm, Malmö, Västerås, and on Gotland, and analysis of the policy landscape, mainly through text analysis and interviews.
