  1. 1. Modelling and intelligent climate control of buildings

    Author : Mohsen Soleimani-Mohseni; [2005]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; neural networks; indoor climate control; operative temperature; demand controlled ventilation; prediction; feed-forward control;

    Abstract : The main purpose of the work presented in this thesis is to examine the possibilities of different control techniques together with intelligent building technology to improve the indoor climate and/or the energy efficiency of buildings. In particular, the possibilities of measuring more variables and using them as input to the controllers are examined. READ MORE

  2. 2. Control Lyapunov Functions A Control Strategy for Damping of Power Oscillations in Large Power Systems

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Mehrdad Ghandhari; [2000]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; UPFC; CSC; QBT; Lyapunov function; Control Lyapunov Function; SIME; Sliding mode; TECHNOLOGY Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics Electric power engineering; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik Elkraftteknik;

    Abstract : In the present climate of deregulation and privatisation, theutilities are often separated into generation, transmission anddistribution companies so as to help promote economic efficiencyand encourage competition. Also, environmental concerns,right-of-way and cost problems have delayed the construction ofboth generation facilities and new transmission lines while thedemand for electric power has continued to grow, which must bemet by increased loading of available lines. 3. 3. Global Navigation Satellite Systems: Applications With Time Scales From Seconds to Decades

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Tong Ning; [2010]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; elevation dependent systematic effects; atmospheric integrated water vapour; Global Navigation Satellite Systems;

    Abstract : Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) can be used formany applications with time scales varying from seconds to decades.For~example, due to the ability of high-rate sampling, GNSStechniques are suitable for the detection of the large co-seismicdisplacements, which are dominated by low-frequency signals andtherefore can be recorded at a few Hertz and estimated with rathersmall uncertainty (millimetres). 4. 4. Demand based control of indoor climate in office buildings. Design of local and central feed-forward control systems for high comfort, low energy use and low peak power

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Mattias Gruber; [2012]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; demand based control; IAQ; central control; local control; disturbance rejection; thermal climate; HVAC; energy efficiency; feed-forward; Building services engineering; office buildings;

    Abstract : In this work, a number of novel strategies for controlling the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems in office buildings have been designed and evaluated. The purpose of the control strategies is to improve the match between what is supplied by the HVAC-systems and what is required to achieve a desirable indoor climate in the building. READ MORE

  5. 5. Holocene environmental changes and climate variability in the Eastern Mediterranean Multiproxy sediment records from the Peloponnese peninsula, SW Greece

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Physical Geography, Stockholm University

    Author : Christos Katrantsiotis; Stefan Wastegård; Rienk Smittenberg; Jan Risberg; Elin Norström; Sherilyn Fritz; [2019]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mediterranean; Greece; Peloponnese; Holocene; sediments; diatoms; n-alkanes; stable isotopes; tectonics; climate variability; monsoons; NAO; NCP; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Abstract : This thesis presents multiproxy reconstructions of the mid to late Holocene climate and environmental changes in the Peloponnese peninsula, SW Greece. The combined dataset consists of diatom, biomarker and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) elemental data in radiocarbon-dated sediment cores taken from the Agios Floros fen and the Gialova Lagoon in SW Peloponnese and the Ancient Lake Lerna in NE Peloponnese.
