  1. 6. Petermann Glacier Ice Shelf in a warming world : Insights from 3-D numerical modelling of ice shelf-ocean interactions at Petermann Fjord, Northwest Greenland

    Author : Abhay Prakash; Nina Kirchner; Qiong Zhang; Riko Noormets; Hans Burchard; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; climate change; Greenland; ice shelf-ocean interactions; numerical ocean modelling; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Abstract : The Greenland Ice Sheet (GrIS) is currently the largest contributor to global mean sea level rise, and contemporary mass loss rates are likely lower bounds for the rates to be observed in decades to come. At present, marine outlet glaciers along the northern GrIS margin, with an ice volume estimated at 400 cm mean global sea level rise equivalent, are still largely buttressed by ice shelves. 2. 7. Water level management of wetlands in response to current and future RCP climate change scenarios : A mesocosm experiment within climate control chambers

    Author : Shokoufeh Salimi; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; peatland; constructed wetland; water quality; carbon dioxide emission; ; drought; nutrient release;

    Abstract : Wetlands are integral components of our natural environment since they provide many critical ecosystem services to humanity, such as water purification, climate change mitigation, flood control, and biodiversity. Although wetlands can convey resilience to some degree of changes, they might be vulnerable to climate change. READ MORE

  3. 8. Hygrothermal Simulations of Buildings Concerning Uncertainties of the Future Climate

    Author : Vahid Nik; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mould growth; climate change; climate uncertainties; hygrothermal simulation; energy demand;

    Abstract : Global warming and its effects on climate are of great concern. Climate change can affect buildings in different ways, i.e. it can change the energy demand or the moisture durability of buildings in the future. READ MORE

  4. 9. Impacts of stumps and roots on carbon storage and bioenergy use in a climate change context

    Author : Ylva Melin; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : As a result of national and international greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, economic incentives and political desires to be more independent regarding energy supplies, there is interest in substituting fossil fuels with renewable energy sources, such as forest fuels. Stump harvesting could be an option to further increase the bioenergy potential in forested countries; currently stump harvesting is carried out on a pilot basis in Sweden. READ MORE
