    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Angiogenesis; genetic polymorphism; gestational hypertensive disorders; Histidine-rich glycoprotein; HRG; implantation defect; oocyte donation; placentation; preeclampsia; recurrent miscarriage; SNP.; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Abstract : Implantation requires complex molecular and cellular events involving coagulation, angiogenesis and immunological processes that need to be well regulated for a pregnancy to establish and progress normally.  The overall aim of this thesis was to study different models associated with atypical angiogenesis, impaired implantation and/or placentation, such as recurrent miscarriage (RM), oocyte donation (OD) and preeclampsia.     Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; childhood eczema; contact allergy; patch test; population-based; predictive value; questionnaire; self-test; sensitivity; specificity; validity; wet work; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Dermatology and venerology; Dermatologi och venerologi; Dermatology and Venerology; Dermatologi och venereologi;

    Abstract : Nickel allergy is the most prevalent contact allergy and has been discussed as a possible riskfactor for hand eczema. However, hand eczema is one of the most frequently occurring skindiseases and has multifactorial origin. Abstract : Background: Subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) is a severe stroke that in 85% of all cases is caused by the rupture of a cerebral aneurysm. The median age at onset is 50-55 years and the overall mortality is approximately 45%.Sufficient cortisol levels are important for survival. READ MORE

  4. 4. Postmenopausal disorders with special reference to urinary incontinence : An epidemiological, experimental and clinical study

    Author : Åsa Stenberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics and gynaecology; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and women s diseases; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Medicine; medicin;

    Abstract : A cross-sectional study of the whole female population of ages 61, 71 and 81 years in a defined part of Sweden was undertaken to investigate the prevalence and severity of postmenopausal symptoms, especially lower genital tract disorders, and to relate their symptoms to reported oestrogen replacement therapy (ERT) (studies I and II). A new substance for endoscopic treatment of urinary incontinence, dextranomers in hyaluronan, (DiHA), was monitored experimentally in terms of tissue reaction, volume changes, DNA changes (study III), and possible migration of particles to distant organs (study IV). 5. 5. Proteolytic imbalance in COPD : epidemiological and clinical aspects

    Author : Robert Linder; Anders Blomberg; Anne Lindberg; Annelie F. Behndig; Arne Egesten; Umeå universitet; []

    Abstract : Background: The complete pathologic mechanism behind the development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) remains unclear, but several risk factors have been identified, of which smoking is the most common. Proteolytic imbalance contributes to lung tissue degradation and is related to both smoking and COPD symptoms. READ MORE
