1. Performance problem diagnosis in cloud infrastructures
Abstract : Cloud datacenters comprise hundreds or thousands of disparate application services, each having stringent performance and availability requirements, sharing a finite set of heterogeneous hardware and software resources. The implication of such complex environment is that the occurrence of performance problems, such as slow application response and unplanned downtimes, has become a norm rather than exception resulting in decreased revenue, damaged reputation, and huge human-effort in diagnosis. 2. Network virtualization as enabler for cloud networking
Abstract : The Internet has exponentially grown and now it is part of our everyday life. Internet services and applications rely on back-end servers that are deployed on local servers and data centers. READ MORE

3. Security and Privacy of Sensitive Data in Cloud Computing
Abstract : Cloud computing offers the prospect of on-demand, elastic computing, provided as a utility service, and it is revolutionizing many domains of computing. Compared with earlier methods of processing data, cloud computing environments provide significant benefits, such as the availability of automated tools to assemble, connect, configure and reconfigure virtualized resources on demand. 4. Searches for Higgs bosons with hadronically decaying τ-leptons : Using Grid and Cloud computing techniques
Abstract : This thesis describes a measurement of the Standard Model Higgs boson coupling to fermions in decays to two τ-leptons, a search for charged Higgs bosons in decays to a τ-lepton and a neutrino, as well as the reconstruction, identification and triggering of hadronically decaying τ-leptons. The data considered are collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. READ MORE

5. Towards Unifying Stream Processing over Central and Near-the-Edge Data Centers
Abstract : In this thesis, our goal is to enable and achieve effective and efficient real-time stream processing in a geo-distributed infrastructure, by combining the power of central data centers and micro data centers. Our research focus is to address the challenges of distributing the stream processing applications and placing them closer to data sources and sinks. READ MORE
