  1. 6. Social-ecological dynamics of ecosystem service bundles

    Author : Megan Meacham; Albert V. Norström; Garry D. Peterson; Dagmar Haase; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecosystem services; multifunctionality; landscape; patterns; cluster; drivers; mapping; trade-offs; synergies; sustainability; land use; landscape management; Sweden; Sustainability Science; vetenskap om hållbar utveckling;

    Abstract : The environments in which we live are complex, adapting and evolving in non-linear ways. The ecosystem services produced in landscapes supply resources, support livelihoods and are foundational to human wellbeing. READ MORE

  2. 7. Space Plasma Dynamics : Instabilities, Coherent Vortices and Covariant Parametrization

    Author : David Sundkvist; Jan-Erik Wahlund; Andris Vaivads; Stuart Bale; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Space and plasma physics; space physics; plasma; instabilities; turbulence; coherent structures; vortex; self-organization; magnetosphere; waves; electromagnetism; covariant; space instrumentation; Rymd- och plasmafysik; Space physics; Rymdfysik;

    Abstract : The magnetospheric cusps are two funnel-like regions of Earth's magnetosphere where solar wind plasma can have direct access to the ionosphere. The cusps are very dynamic regions where wave-particle interactions continuously take place and redistribute energy among different particle populations. READ MORE

  3. 8. Ultrafast dynamics of small quantum systems studied using electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy

    Author : Smita Ganguly; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coincidence spectroscopy; photodissociation dynamics; fragmentation reaction; MOLECULAR-BEAM; Cluster fission; Astrochemistry; Carbon dioxide CO2 ; ; Adamantane;

    Abstract : Studying how small quantum systems, like molecules and clusters, interact with X-rays is crucial to understanding the ultrafast processes that occur in nature on incredibly short timescales, ranging from femtoseconds to picoseconds. X-rays excite small quantum systems to unstable core hole states, leading to a cascade of phenomena, including Auger decay, nuclear rearrangement, and dissociation. READ MORE

  4. 9. Subvalent Cluster Compounds and Synthesis in Alternative Reaction Media

    Author : Josefin Åkerstedt; Lars Kloo; Mats Johnsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; metal cluster; Zintl ion; metal-organic sandwich complex; ionic liquid; X-ray diffraction; spectroscopy; crystal structure; Inorganic Chemistry;

    Abstract : With the aim of finding alternative reaction media for the synthesis of subvalent main group and transition metal cluster compounds, traditionally made through solid state reactions or in superacidic media, different alternative reaction media have been explored in this work. Room-temperature ionic liquids are amongst the more unconventional reaction media used. READ MORE

  5. 10. Towards Single Molecule Imaging - Understanding Structural Transitions Using Ultrafast X-ray Sources and Computer Simulations

    Author : Carl Caleman; Janos Hajdu; Richard Neutze; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Molecular biophysics; XFEL; Ultrafast Melting; InSb; Molecular Dynamics; Water Cluster; Evaporation; Secondary Electron; Photo-cathode; Electron Scattering; Energy Loss Function; Single Particle Imaging; X-ray Diffraction; Water; Ice; KI; CsI; Molekylär biofysik;

    Abstract : X-ray lasers bring us into a new world in photon science by delivering extraordinarily intense beams of x-rays in very short bursts that can be more than ten billion times brighter than pulses from other x-ray sources. These lasers find applications in sciences ranging from astrophysics to structural biology, and could allow us to obtain images of single macromolecules when these are injected into the x-ray beam.
