  1. 6. Photoelectron Spectroscopy on Atoms, Molecules and Clusters : The Geometric and Electronic Structure Studied by Synchrotron Radiation and Lasers

    Author : Torbjörn Rander; Olle Björneholm; Gunnar Öhrwall; Maxim Tchaplyguine; Matthias Neeb; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Atomic and molecular physics; Free clusters; Electron spectroscopy; Doped clusters; Laser excitation; Alkali metals; Electronic structure; Geometric structure; X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy XPS ; Resonant Auger spectroscopy RAS ; Near-threshold x-ray absorption fine structure NEXAFS ; Ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy UPS ; Detuning; Ultra-fast dissociation UFD ; Sodium; Potassium; Oxygen; Bromomethane; Argon; Xenon; Krypton; Molecular field splitting; Core hole lifetime; Core excitation; Atom- och molekylfysik;

    Abstract : Atoms, molecules and clusters all constitute building blocks of macroscopic matter. Therefore, understanding the electronic and geometrical properties of such systems is the key to understanding the properties of solid state objects. READ MORE

  2. 7. Free Clusters Studied by Synchrotron-Based X-ray Spectroscopy: From Rare Gases to Metals

    Author : Sergey Peredkov; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; supraconductors; magnetic resonance; relaxation; spectroscopy; magnetic and optical properties; rare-gas clusters; Condensed matter:electronic structure; electrical; metal clusters; photoemission; synchrotron radiation; core-level spectroscopy; Auger decay; XPS; nano-particles; free clusters; egenskaper elektriska; spektroskopi; magnetisk resonans; magnetiska och optiska ; supraledare; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:elektronstruktur;

    Abstract : The main topic of this Thesis is the x-ray spectroscopic studies of free nano-clusters with size more than 10^3 atoms. The photoelectron spectroscopy experiments on rare gas and metal clusters were performed at beamline I411 at MAX-lab National Swedish synchrotron radiation facility. Free rare-gas clusters are simplest objects in cluster research. READ MORE

  3. 8. Observations of nearby Galaxy Clusters with the Fermi Large Area Telescope : Towards the first Gamma Rays from Clusters

    Author : Stephan Zimmer; Jan Conrad; Lars Bergström; Torsten Enßlin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Galaxy Clusters; Fermi-LAT; γ rays; Dark Matter; Cosmic Rays; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Galaxy clusters are the most massive bound systems known in the Universe and are believed to have formed through large scale structure formation. They host relativistic cosmic-ray (CR) populations and are gravitationally bound by large amounts of Dark Matter (DM), both providing conditions in which high-energy gamma rays may be produced either via CR interactions with the intracluster medium or through the annihilation or decay of DM particles. 4. 9. Global Spaces for Local Entrepreneurship : Stretching clusters through networks and international trade fairs

    Author : Marcela Ramírez-Pasillas; Bengt Johannisson; Sven-Åke Hörte; Poul Rind Christensen; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; clusters; international trade fairs; proximity; networks; organising contexts; Business studies; Företagsekonomi;

    Abstract : Many of the insightful writings on clusters identify the role of entrepreneurs as key agents in the formation of firms and clusters. This thesis argues instead that local entrepreneurship is not ceased once firms and clusters are established; local entrepreneurship is about the continuous (re)creation of both businesses and clusters in global spaces. 5. 10. Molecular Hole Punching : Impulse Driven Reactions in Molecules and Molecular Clusters

    Author : Michael Gatchell; Henning Zettergren; Henrik Cederquist; Henning Schmidt; Joachim Burgdörfer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PAHs; Fullernes; Reactions; Clusters; Interstellar Medium; Fragmentation; Non-Statistical Fragmentation; Collisions; Experiments; Molecular Dynamics; Density Functional Theory; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : When molecules are excited by photons or energetic particles, they will cool through the emission of photons, electrons, or by fragmenting. Such processes are often thermal as they occur after the excitation energy has been redistributed across all degrees-of-freedom in the system. READ MORE
