16. Preparation and characterization of nanocellulose films and coatings from industrial bio-residues
Abstract : The aim of this work has been to study cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) from bio-residues and their use as green coating materials. In the first part of this work, physical and chemical properties of different types of cellulose nanocrystals, from different raw material sources and different treatments were compared. READ MORE

17. Physical properties of dispersions and composites containing surface-grafted cellulose nanocrystals
Abstract : The needs and requests from the society for non-fossil-based materials as well as more lightweight products are constantly increasing. The increasing awareness of the sustainability of the resources available paralleled by a growing population, point to a need for changes, if the population also aim for constantly higher standard of living. 18. Nanocelluloses - surface modification and use in functional materials
Abstract : Cellulose nanocomposites offer interesting potential in terms of improved properties and new functionalities compared with microcomposites. Preparation from colloidal suspensions is promising, since high reinforcement content is possible and a wide range of constituents can be used. READ MORE

19. Processing and properties of thermoplastic composites containing cellulose nanocrystals or wood-based cellulose fibres
Abstract : Cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) were surface modified with dialkylamines to increase the compatibility between the CNC and the polymeric matrix, and promising results were obtained, with a 300 % stiffness increase when the mixed dispersion was compression moulded on a laboratory scale. The manufacturing process was up-scaled using water-assisted mixing in a twin-screw extruder (TSE) followed by a second compounding step and injection moulding (IM). READ MORE

20. Water-assisted mixing and compression moulding of ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer reinforced with nano-cellulose
Abstract : The concerns regarding aspects of global warming, depleting oil resources, accumulation of plastics in landfills has served as motivation to move towards utilizing sustainable and renewable resources to fulfil our needs. In the present work, the reinforcing capabilities of cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) and modified/unmodified cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) based composites prepared through water-assisted mixing, drying and compression moulding was explored.
