  1. 1. Coagulation process characteristics and pollutant removal from urban runoff

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå University of Technology

    Author : Fredrik Nyström; Inga Herrmann; Annelie Hedström; Maria Viklander; Michael Cimbritz; [2019]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stormwater; urban snowmelt; road runoff; coagulation flocculation sedimentation; coagulation characteristics; coagulation mechanism; treatment efficiency; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Many different stormwater control measures (SCMs) can be implemented in order to mitigate issues with polluted stormwater flows into receiving water bodies.  The treatment function of  SCMs is commonly based on the removal of particles by sedimentation, thereby also removing pollutants associated with particles. 2. 2. Streptococcal virulence and the coagulation system

    University dissertation from Division of Infection Medicine

    Author : Kristofer Wollein Waldetoft; [2013]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Streptococci; virulence; coagulation; intrinsic pathway; evolution;

    Abstract : This thesis explores streptococcal virulence from both mechanistic and evolutionary perspectives, where the mechanistic studies focus on interactions with the human coagulation system. We describe interactions between streptococcal surface proteins and components of the intrinsic pathway of coagulation and the kallikrein-kinin system in human plasma, as well as to how these surface proteins are produced in different growth phases. 3. 3. Regulation of Tissue Factor and Coagulation Activity Translation Studies with Focus on Platelet-Monocyte Aggregates and Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Christina Christersson; Agneta Siegbahn; Lars Wallentin; Jonas Oldgren; Ingebjorg Seljeflot; [2008]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Internal medicine; Myocardial infarction; Coagulation; Platelet-monocyte aggregates; Tissue factor; Thrombin inhibition; Invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : Myocardial infarction (MI) is often caused by a disruption of an atherosclerotic plaque with activation of coagulation, platelets and inflammation. The aims were; to investigate whether the oral direct thrombin inhibitor, ximelagatran affected markers for coagulation, platelet and inflammation in a patient cohort with recent MI and if the coagulation markers could identify patients with increased risk of new ischemic events; to evaluate some of the mechanisms involved in formation of platelet-monocyte aggregates (PMAs). 4. 4. Monitoring of coagulation and platelet function in paediatric cardiac surgery

    University dissertation from Göteborg : University of Gothenburg

    Author : Birgitta S Romlin; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2013]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; paediatric cardiac surgery; haemostasis; platelet; coagulation; thromboelastometry; impedance aggregometry; coagulopathy; haemoconcentration;

    Abstract : Abstract Background: Paediatric cardiac surgery has developed dramatically during the last decades. Today, a wide range of patients is operated on-from premature neonates to grown up children with congenital heart disease. Excessive bleeding during and after cardiac surgery is still common, and it is one of the most serious complications. READ MORE

  5. 5. Coagulation of Cellulose: from Ionic-Liquid Solution to Cellulose Nanostructure

    University dissertation from Gothenburg : Chalmers tekniska högskola

    Author : Artur Hedlund; [2018]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ionic Liquids; Wet Spinning; Coagulation; Cellulose; Nonsolvent; Diffusion;

    Abstract : Abstract A linear chain of glucose monomers, cellulose, provides the structural reinforcement of the cell walls of plants and constitutes almost half of their dry mass. Wood and other plant-based raw materials are processed on a large industrial scale to isolate the cellulose, which is then dissolved. READ MORE
