  1. 1. Co-injection of basic fluxes or BF flue dust with PC into a BF charged with 100% pellets : effects on slag formation and coal combustion

    Author : Lena Sundqvist Ökvist; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : Based on 100% pellets operation at BF No. 3 at SSAB Tunnplåt in Luleå a new pellet with CaO/SiO2=1 was developed during early nineties. The pellet showed good results in metallurgical laboratory test but caused slag formation problems in the bosh. READ MORE

  2. 2. Reduction of the N2O Emission from Fluidized Bed Combustion by Afterburning

    Author : Lennart Gustavsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; chemical modelling; fuel injection; nitrous oxide; fluidized bed combustion; fluidized beds; afterburning; homogeneous heterogeneous reactions; N2O reduction; fluidized bed boiler; N2O emissions;

    Abstract : A method for reducing N2O emissions from fluidized bed combustion is presented and investigated. In contrast to flame combustion, fluidized bed combustion generates significant amounts of nitrous oxide (N2O) which are emitted to the atmosphere. READ MORE

  3. 3. Experimental and Modeling Studies of Sulfur-Based Reactions in Oxy-Fuel Combustion

    Author : Daniel Fleig; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SO3; acid dew-point; coal combustion; oxy-fuel; sulfur; flue gas recycle; corrosion; Carbon capture and storage; H2SO4; SO2;

    Abstract : Oxy-fuel combustion is a technology for CO2 capture that is suitable for large-scale, coal-fired power plants. In this system, the combustion air is replaced by a mixture of O2 and recycled flue gases, so as to enrich for CO2 in the flue gas. READ MORE

  4. 4. Reactions in the Lower Part of the Blast Furnace with Focus on Silicon

    Author : Joel Gustavsson; Pär Jönsson; Leiv Kolbeinssen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; blast furnace chemistry; ironmak ing; thermodynamics; silicon compounds; combustion; fuel injection; mass balance; slags; pig iron; gases; droplets;

    Abstract : The thermodynamic conditions for the behaviour of silicon in the lower part of the blast furnace have been the focus of the thesis. More specifically, the influences of temperature, carbon activity, total gas pressure and Fe reoxidation on silicon have been studied. READ MORE

  5. 5. Pellet reduction properties under different blast furnace operating conditions

    Author : Ulrika Leimalm; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : One of the aims of modern blast furnace (BF) ironmaking is to reduce coke consumption. One way is to increase the injection of reduction agents, such as pulverized coal. An increase in pulverized coal injection rate (PCR) will affect the blast furnace process and the conditions for iron oxide reduction. READ MORE
