  1. 1. Stark Spectroscopy, Lifetimes and Coherence Effects in Diatomic Molecular Systems

    Author : Annie Hansson; Peder Royen; Michel Herman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diatomic; dipole moment; Stark effect; lifetimes; transition moment; coherence effects; EIT; Autler-Townes; Chemical physics; Kemisk fysik;

    Abstract : In this dissertation is exemplified how different laser based methods are applied in high-resolution spectroscopic studies of internal properties of diatomic molecules.A molecular beam apparatus assembly is described, where a laser ablation source is combined with a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. 2. 2. Electronic and Vibrational Coherence in Photosynthetic and Model Systems

    Author : Mirianas Chachisvilis; Kemisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kemi; Chemistry; Ultrafast relaxation; Porphyrins; Delocalization; Anisotropy; Wavepacket; Vibrational Coherence; Excitons; Electronic coherence; Energy transfer; Femtosecond spectroscopy; Photosynthesis;

    Abstract : Ultrafast optical response and excitation energy dynamics in light harvesting pigment-protein complexes and in a few model systems have been studied both experimentally and theoretically. Femtosecond light pulses were employed to excite the system and monitor the subsequent time evolution of the transient absorption kinetics and anisotropy. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quantum Coherence for Light Harvesting

    Author : David Palecek; Kemisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coherent two-dimensional spectroscopy; Quantum coherence; Light harvesting; Photosynthetic reaction center; Energy transfer;

    Abstract : Almost all life on Earth depends on the products of photosynthesis — the biochemical process whereby solar energy is stored as chemical-rich compounds. The energy of captured photons is transferred through a network of pigment-protein complexes towards the reaction center. READ MORE

  4. 4. Quantum Coherence and Quantum-Vacuum Effects in Some Artificial Electromagnetic Media

    Author : Jianqi Shen; Sailing He; Chris Phillips; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Quantum coherence; quantum vacuum; electromagnetically induced transparency; negative refractive index; artificial electromagnetic media; electric- and magnetic-dipole transitions; multilevel atomic vapors; transient evolution; Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik;

    Abstract : The author of this thesis concentrates his attention on quantum optical properties of some artificial electromagnetic media, such as quantum coherent atomic vapors (various multilevel electromagnetically induced transparency vapors) and negative refractive index materials, and suggests some possible ways to manipulate wave propagations inside the artificial electromagnetic materials based on quantum coherence and quantum vacuum effects. In Chapters 1 and 2, the author reviews the previous papers on quantum coherence as well as the relevant work such as electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT), atomic population trapping and their various applications. 5. 5. Effects of Coherence and Correlations on Transport through Nanostructures

    Author : Olov Karlström; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Karlström;

    Abstract : This dissertation deals with the effects of coherence and correlations on transport through nanostructures. Simulations are mainly performed using the second order von Neumann approach, a method capable of dealing with these effects in the presence of higher order tunneling. READ MORE
