1. Recycling of metallurgical by-products within integrated iron and steelmaking : experimental studies of cold bonded by-product pellets
Abstract : In recent years as costs for depositing dust and sludge generated in the iron and steel making industry have increased, due to lack of space and increasing environmental restrictions, the need to recycle these solid by- products to avoid depositing costs and to recover valuable metal fractions, is soon becoming a necessary reality. Cold bonded agglomeration is considered to be a well-suited alternative for recycling of steel industry by-product dust and sludge. READ MORE

2. Studies on the cold bonded briquettes of iron and steel plant by-products as burden material for blast furnaces
Abstract : During the various stages of iron & steel production a number of iron bearing by-products are generated. These by-products can be made into cement bonded agglomerates for use as burden material for blast furnaces. READ MORE

3. Wafer-level heterogeneous integration of MEMS actuators
Abstract : This thesis presents methods for the wafer-level integration of shape memory alloy (SMA) and electrostatic actuators to functionalize MEMS devices. The integration methods are based on heterogeneous integration, which is the integration of different materials and technologies. READ MORE

4. Heterogeneous Integration of Shape Memory Alloysfor High-Performance Microvalves
Abstract : This thesis presents methods for fabricating MicroElectroMechanical System (MEMS) actuators and high-flow gas microvalves using wafer-level integration of Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs) in the form of wires and sheets. The work output per volume of SMA actuators exceeds that of other microactuation mechanisms, such as electrostatic, magnetic and piezoelectric actuation, by more than an order of magnitude, making SMA actuators highly promising for applications requiring high forces and large displacements. 5. Recycling of Blast Furnace Sludge within the Integrated Steel Plant : Potential for Complete Recycling and Influence on Operation
Abstract : Ore-based steelmaking generates various residues including dust, sludges, scales and slags. Internal and external recycling has allowed for 68-90 % of the dust, sludges and scales to be recycled. However, several residues are landfilled despite containing elements valuable as raw material in the production of steel. READ MORE
