  1. 6. Synthesis of ytterbium-doped yttrium oxide nanoparticles and transparent ceramics

    Author : Johanne Mouzon; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering Materials; Materialteknik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the author reports on a ceramic process leading to transparent ytterbium doped yttrium oxide ceramics. The full production route was investigated, namely: powder preparation, compaction and sintering. First, yttria nano-powder was fabricated from a precursor with transient morphology, i.e. READ MORE

  2. 7. Multicomponent diffusional reactions in tool steels : Experiment and Theory

    Author : Greta Lindwall; Malin Selleby; Karin Frisk; John Ågren; Carelyn Campbell; KTH; []
    Keywords : hot-work tool steel; precipitation hardening; DICTRA; coarsening; mobilities; CALPHAD; cobalt; PM tool stees; nitrogen; compound materials;

    Abstract : Many phenomena determining the microstructure of a tool steel and consequently the properties of the material, are governed by multicomponent diffusion. The diffusion driven reactions that take place during, for example, tempering of a hot-work tool steel or when the microstructure develops during hot isostatic pressing of cold-work tool steel, are dependent on the types and amounts of alloying elements. 3. 8. Liquid phase sintering of W-Ni-Fe composites : liquid penetration, agglomerate separation and tungsten particle growth

    Author : Anders Eliasson; Hasse Fredriksson; Thomas Gomez-Acebo; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Liquid phase sintering; heavy metal; particle composites; tungsten; penetration; agglomerate separation; particle interaction; parabolic flight; sounding rockets; microgravity; Kirkendall effect; Metallurgical process engineering; Metallurgisk processteknik;

    Abstract : The initial stage of liquid phase sintering, involving liquid penetration, agglomerate separation, particle spreading and growth has been investigated in experiments using tungsten heavy alloys. The particle composites used were produced by hot isostatic pressing (HIP) of pure powder mixtures of W-Ni-Fe-(Co). READ MORE

  4. 9. Novel injectable calcium sulfate depot formulations for local cancer treatment

    Author : Stefan Grudén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In the present thesis, a novel drug delivery technology named NanoZolid® based on hydrating inorganic calcium sulfate, is investigated. NanoZolid is injected as a liquid suspension of calcium sulfate, which solidifies in vivo by hydration forming a biocompatible and bioresorbable depot that slowly dissolves and releases the active substance.
