  1. 6. Using Learning Analytics to Understand and Support Collaborative Learning

    Author : Mohammed Saqr; Uno Fors; Jalal Nouri; Barbara Wasson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Learning analytics; Social Network Analysis; Collaborative Learning; Medical Education; Interaction Analysis; Machine Learning; Information Society; informationssamhället;

    Abstract : Learning analytics (LA) is a rapidly evolving research discipline that uses insights generated from data analysis to support learners and optimize both the learning process and learning environment. LA is driven by the availability of massive data records regarding learners, the revolutionary development of big data methods, cheaper and faster hardware, and the successful implementation of analytics in other domains. 2. 7. Virtual Collaborative Design Environment: Information structure and interfaces

    Author : Shahin Sateei; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cross-project learning; Collaborative Virtual Environment CVE ; Design Guidelines; virtual reality; Head-mounted display HMD ; User involvement;

    Abstract : The failure to identify design issues in early phases of construction projects has been identified as a significant cause of costly rework, as these issues can impact the building occupants’ abilities to efficiently perform their daily work tasks. Therefore, it is crucial to consider their feedback when design reviewing. READ MORE

  3. 8. Supporting Data Interaction and Hybrid Asymmetric Collaboration Using Virtual Reality Within the Context of Immersive Analytics

    Author : Nico Reski; Aris Alissandrakis; Andreas Kerren; Petra Isenberg; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 3D gestural input; 3D radar charts; 3D user interfaces; empirical evaluation; head-mounted display; hybrid asymmetric collaboration; immersive analytics; spatio-temporal data interaction; user interface design; virtual reality; 3D-handinteraktion; 3D-radardiagram; 3D-användargränssnitt; design av användargränssnitt; empirisk utvärdering; huvudburen display; hybrid-asymmetrisk samarbete; immersiv analys; virtuell verklighet; Computer Science; Datavetenskap; Informations- och programvisualisering; Information and software visualization;

    Abstract : Immersive display and interaction technologies have rapidly evolved in recent years, offering advanced techniques compared to traditional Human-Computer Interaction. Computer-generated Virtual Environments viewed with stereoscopic depth perception and explored using 3D spatial interaction can represent more accurately how humans naturally interact in the real world. 4. 9. Accommodating differences : Power, belonging, and representation online

    Author : Karin Hansson; Love Ekenberg; Ina Wagner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; e-participation; e-democracy; online identity; artistic research; visual method; participatory method; belonging; singularity; performative states; Computer and Systems Sciences; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : How can political participatory processes online be understood in the dynamic, conflicted and highly mediated situations of contemporary society? What does democracy mean in a scenario where inequality and difference are the norms, and where people tend to abandon situations in which they and their interests are not recognized? How can we accommodate differences rather than consensus in a scenario where multiple networks of people are the starting point rather than a single community?In this thesis, these questions are explored through an iterative process in two studies that have used or resulted in three prototypes and one art exhibition. The first study is of communication practices in a global interest community, which resulted in two prototypes: Actory, a groupware that takes differences rather than equality as the starting point for a collaborative tool, and The Affect Machine, a social network where differences are used as a relational capital. 5. 10. Applied Geovisual Analytics and Storytelling

    Author : Patrik Lundblad; Mikael Jern; Lennart Cederberg; Andreas Kerren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : 'Geovisual Analytics' represents a cross-disciplinary research that looks for innovative methods to interactively visualize and solve large spatio-temporal related visualization problems for multivariate data through a visual discovery, reasoning and collaborative process. The name emphasizes the link with the well-known research discipline of Visual Analytics and could be viewed as sub-area with its specific focus on space and time posing specific research problems.
