  1. 1. Coloured Universe and the Russian Avant-Garde : Matiushin on Colour Vision in Stalin's Russia, 1932

    Author : Margareta Tillberg; Jeff Werner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Colour vision; Russian avant-garde; Mikhail Matiushin; Elena Guro; Ender siblings; art; science; laboratory observations; colour practices; colour theory; synaesthesia; dialectical materialism; Stalin; culture; universal language; architecture; design; Matjušin; Michail Vasilʹevič; 1861-1934; Experimentell konsthistoria Sovjetunionen 1930-talet; Färglära historia Sovjetunionen 1930-talet; Art; Konstvetenskap; konstvetenskap; Art History;

    Abstract : Colour vision was of fundamental importance in modernist art. One reason its significance has been studied so little with regard to Russian art is that Soviet archives were inaccessible until the early 1990s. This work is the first close study on a so-called laboratory in an art- and science institute in the Soviet Union in the 1920s. READ MORE

  2. 2. Changeability as a quality in textile design

    Author : Riikka Talman; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Abstract : The tendency to wear out and change is inherent in most materials, but – aside from a few exceptions – has been considered to be undesirable by both the industry and consumers. The work presented in this licentiate thesis suggests that, due to change in some form being an inherent property of textiles, it may be viable to look for alternative ways of designing and perceiving textiles that accept change as one of their qualities. 3. 3. Daylight Influence on Colour Design : Empirical Study on Perceived Colour and Colour Experience Indoors

    Author : Maud Hårleman; Jadwiga Krupinska; José Luis Caivano; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; architecture; interior colouring; spatial character; natural daylight; verbal description; colour reference box; Architecture; Arkitektur;

    Abstract : It is known that one and the same interior colouring will appear different in rooms with windows facing north or facing south, but it is not known how natural daylight from these two compass points affects perceived colour and the ways in which colour is experienced. The objective is to describe the perceived colours to be expected in rooms with sunlight and diffused light, and thus develop a tool for colour design. READ MORE

  4. 4. On textile printing with thermochromic inks

    Author : Marjan Kooroshnia; Hanna Landin; Sara Robertson; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Abstract : This thesis describes an exploration of the principles of applying leuco dye-based inks to textile design practice. The main motivation has been to explore the design properties and potentials of leuco dye-based thermochromic inks when printed on textiles in order to obtain an understanding and facilitate the design of dynamic surface patterns. 5. 5. Designing for changeability in textiles

    Author : Riikka Talman; Hanna Landin; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Abstract : The tendency to wear out and change is inherent in most materials, yet textiles are usually designed to retain a single expression. Within an experimental, practical work, materials that are inherently changeable were used to create woven and knitted structures in order to approach textiles from the perspective of changeability and explore what this might mean for the field of textile design.
