  1. 11. Risk Prediction at the Emergency Department

    Author : Thomas Olsson; Lars Lind; Andreas Terént; Bengt Widgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; scoring system; mortality; cohort; prospective; Emergency Department; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : The severity of illness was scored in a cohort of 11751 non-surgical patients presenting at the Emergency Department (ED) during 12 consecutive months and followed for 4.7 years. READ MORE

  2. 12. Thermophysical Modelling and Mechanical Stability of Cometary Nuclei

    Author : Björn Davidsson; Dina Prialnik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astronomy; Comets; Tidal physics; Light scattering; Radiative transfer; Thermophysics; Gas kinetics; Non-gravitational forces; Astronomi; Astronomy and astrophysics; Astronomi och astrofysik; Theoretical Astrophysics; teoretisk astrofysik;

    Abstract : Comets are the most primordial and least evolved bodies in the Solar System. As such, they are unique sources of information regarding the early history of the Solar System. However, little is known about cometary nuclei since they are very difficult to observe due to the obscuring coma. READ MORE

  3. 13. Optics for Low Vision Enabling

    Author : Jörgen Gustafsson; Certec - Rehabiliteringsteknik och Design; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Eccentric viewing; Low vision optics; Low vision rehabilitation; People with low vision; Preferred retinal; locus PRL ; Resolution; Visual acuity; Ophtalmology; Medicinsk teknik; Medical technology; Rehabilitering medicinsk och social ; rehabilitation; revalidation; kinesitherapy; Oftalmologi; Physical medicine; Contrast sensitivity; Detection; Eccentric correction; CFL ; Central visual field loss; Central scotoma; Aberrations; Astigmatism;

    Abstract : For people with central visual field loss, eccentric vision is all that they have to rely on. Even for those who learn how to correctly utilize their eccentric vision, it will never be as good as the central for two entirely different reasons: the off-axis optics of the eye can result in large refractive errors, and the low function of the peripheral retina. 4. 14. Plasma environment of an intermediately active comet : Evolution and dynamics observed by ESA's Rosetta spacecraft at 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko

    Author : Elias Odelstad; Anders Eriksson; Andrew Coates; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Rosetta; comet; 67P; RPC-LAP; RPC-MIP; RPC-ICA; RPC-MAG; ROSINA-COPS; Langmuir probe; spacecraft potential; plasma; Churyumov-Gerasimenko; ion composition analyzer; diamagnetic cavity; ion velocity; electron temperature; ion-neutral drag; collisional coupling; wake effects; filamentation; electron cooling; plasma waves; hybrid waves; Bernstein waves; minimum variance; polarization; wavelet; density fluctuations; magnetic field oscillations; drift-cyclotron instability; asymmetric plasma and magnetic field enhancements; Fysik med inriktning mot rymd- och plasmafysik; Physics with specialization in Space and Plasma Physics;

    Abstract : The subject of this thesis is the evolution and dynamics of the plasma environment of a moderately active comet before, during and after its closest approach to the Sun. For over 2 years in 2014-2016, the European Space Agency’s Rosetta spacecraft followed the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko at distances typically between a few tens and a few hundred kilometers from the nucleus, the longest and closest inspection of a comet ever made. 5. 15. Electroencephalography for neurological prognostication after cardiac arrest

    Author : Erik Westhall; Klinisk neurofysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; EEG; Interrater variability; Brain injury; Cardiac arrest; Hypothermia; Prognosis; Outcome;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the prognostic value of electroencephalography(EEG) in comatose patients resuscitated after cardiac arrest (CA), using both simplified continuous EEG monitoring (cEEG) and routine EEG. Background: Comatose survivors are admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) to support vital functions. READ MORE
