  1. 21. Structurally Informed Architectural Design

    Author : Laurens Luyten; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; architect; structural engineer; architectural design; structural design; conceptual design; design collaboration;

    Abstract : Architectural form and its supporting structure are results of interdependent design processes that do not always develop in harmony: often major outlines of architectural form are decided before structural design is involved. This doctoral work investigates design collaborations between architects and structural engineers in which architecture and structure are designed in mutual agreement, and structural design is able to guide and inspire a creation of architectural form and space. 2. 22. Fairness in Communication and Computer Network Design

    Author : Pål Nilsson; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Data- och systemvetenskap; computer technology; Systems engineering; Resource allocation; Optimization; Communication networks; Fairness; Telecommunication engineering; Telekommunikationsteknik;

    Abstract : In communication networks, fair sharing of resources is an important issue for one main reason. The growth of network capacity is in general not matching the rapid growth of traffic. Consequently, the resources consumed by each user have to be limited. This implies that users cannot always be assigned the end-to-end bandwidth they ask for. READ MORE

  3. 23. Management of Design Information in the Production System Design Process

    Author : Jessica Bruch; Monica Bellgran; Christer Johansson; Bengt- Göran Rosén; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Information management; production system; design process; design information; manufacturing industry; industrialization; Innovation and Design; innovation och design;

    Abstract : For manufacturing companies active on the global market, high-performance production systems that contribute to the growth and competitiveness of the company are essential. Among a wide range of industries it is increasingly acknowledged that superior production system capabilities are crucial for competitive success. READ MORE

  4. 24. Privacy Mechanism Design Through the Lens of Information Theory : With Applications to Compression, Caching, and Semantic Communication

    Abstract : Privacy mechanism design is an important research area and is receiving increased attention in recent years. This field focuses on addressing the challenge of revealing general data that might have correlations with sensitive information, all while protecting this sensitive information against unauthorized access. 5. 25. The I in Design

    Author : Henrik Enquist; Certec - Rehabiliteringsteknik och Design; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; visualisation; rehabilitation; participatory design; methodology; design; artefact; autobiography;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the relations between objects, practices, and individuals. The main objective is to explore the role of artefacts in user-centred participatory design research, specifically for expressing and communicating personal experiences and creating meaning. READ MORE
