  1. 11. Some Aspects of Foamed Bitumen Technology

    Author : May Namutebi; Björn Birgisson; Umaru Bagampadde; Jonas Ekblad; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Foamed bitumen; Aggregate coating; Rice density; Foam characteristics; Surface energy; Locking concept; Gyratory; Compaction; Optimum moisture content; Other civil engineering and architecture; Övrig samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Abstract : Although foamed bitumen has been widely applied in pavement construction some of its aspects are still not yet understood. In this study, some of these aspects including: effects of the foaming process on binder chemistry, characterization of foamed bitumen and development of a rational method to optimize foam characteristics, evaluation of aggregate particle coating within foamed bitumen treated materials, and development of a gyratory compaction procedure for laterite gravels treated with foamed bitumen were addressed. 2. 12. An investigation into some aspects for foamed bitumen technology

    Author : May Namutebi; Björn Birgisson; Alvaro Guarin; Umaru Bagampadde; Baoshan Huang; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Foamed bitumen; Binder ageing; Aggregate coating; Compaction; Mix design; Aggregate porosity; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Abstract : Despite applications of foamed bitumen technology in pavement construction in various places around the world, there are still several aspects about this technology that are not clear. In addition, knowledge on foamed bitumen technology is mainly empirical and lacks scientific basis. READ MORE

  3. 13. On Surface Characteristics and Microstructural Development of Soft Magnetic Composite Powder and Components

    Author : Christos Oikonomou; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; compaction; annealing; X-ray diffraction; soft magnetic composites; high resolution scanning electron microscopy; surface layers; magnetic testing; powder metallurgy; depth profiling; electron backscatter diffraction; focused ion beam; thickness determination; energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy; microstructure;

    Abstract : Soft Magnetic Composite (SMC) products manufactured by traditional Powder Metallurgical (PM) techniques, are strong candidate materials for electromagnetic applications. Their advantages are based on cost and energy efficient production methods, shape complexity realization and uniquely uniform and isotropic three dimensional (3D) magnetic properties. READ MORE

  5. 15. Improved understanding of sublevel blasting : Determination of the extent of the compacted zone, its properties and the effects on caving

    Author : Nikolaos Petropoulos; Daniel Johansson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sublevel mining; compaction; confining material; confined blast; impact tests; burden dynamics; coarse-grained material; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och berganläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : Sublevel caving (SLC) is a mass mining method relying on the flowability of the blasted material. The ore is blasted in slices against caved material which is mainly waste rock. The result of the confined blast is greatly influenced by the interaction between the blasted material and the caved material. READ MORE
