16. Physiological and Environmental Processes Influencing Growth Strategies in Amphibian Larvae
Abstract : Cost and benefits of high individual growth rates are likely to vary across different environments leading to geographic differentiation in growth strategies. In ectotherms, habitats constrained by short growing seasons favour rapid growth and development leading to adaptive latitudinal clines in these traits. READ MORE

17. Gait strategy in myelomeningocele : movements, mechanics and methods
Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to describe the movement patterns employed in self-ambulatory children with a range of muscle paresis due to nervous tissue damage resulting from myelomeningocele, a common congenital malformation of the spinal column resulting in sensory and motor paresis. Using 3D movement analysis, the upper and lower body kinematics, movement of the center of mass, and joint moments, powers, and work done during gait in 32 children with lumbo-sacral myelomeningocele were analyzed and divided into 5 groups based on the severity of paresis. 18. Unilateral neglect : aspects of rehabilitation from an occupational therapy perspective
Abstract : Unilateral neglect (UN) refers to an inability to orient the attention to stimuli in the contralesional hemispace. This may severely impair the performance of everyday tasks. UN is most common and severe after right brain damage. READ MORE

19. Mechanisms of adaptation to the fitness cost of antibiotic resistance
Abstract : The dissemination and persistence of antibiotic resistance, is not only depending on the volume of drugs used but also on the resistance mechanisms effect of bacterial fitness (reproductive ability). Fitness is a multifactorial parameter that is comprised of the relative growth rate of the resistant pathogen in the host and in the environment, as well as the clearance and transmission rates compared to susceptible strains. 20. Decision Making in Groups : Group membership effects on post-decision processes
Abstract : The present thesis examines differences in post-decision processes between members of groups and individual decision makers. The empirical studies employed a decision theoretical framework based on Differentiation and Consolidation (Diff Con) Theory. READ MORE
