  1. 16. C-reactive protein (CRP) and anti-CRP autoantibodies in systemic lupus erythematosus : a study on the occurrence and clinical implications of anti-CRP antibodies and CRP-mediated complement activation

    Author : Christopher Sjöwall; Thomas Skogh; Johan Frostegård; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; autoantibodies; complement activation; C-reactive protein; cytokines; immune complex; immunoregulation; opsonization; systemic lupus erythematosus; Rheumatology; Reumatologi;

    Abstract : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by production of a wide range of autoantibodies, multiple organ involvement and by local formation or tissue deposition of immune complexes (ICs) in the inflamed organs. In contrast to most systemic inflammatory conditions, and despite raised levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, SLE flares are rarely reflected by elevated C-reactive protein (CRP), an important acute-phase reactant in man with homologs in vertebrates and several invertebrates. 2. 17. Complement activation - good or evil in HIV-1 infection? : interaction of free and complement opsonized HIV-1 with monocyte derived dendritic cells and immune cells in the cervical mucosa

    Author : Veronica Tjomsland; Marie Larsson; Jorma Hinkula; Karl-Eric Magnusson; Barbara Shacklett; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Worldwide, the heterosexual route is the most common mode of sexual transmission of HIV-1 and women are particularly susceptible to this infection. After penetration of the mucosal epithelium HIV-1 interacts with potential target cells, i.e. dendritic cells (DCs) and CD4+ T cells. READ MORE

  3. 18. Novel Agonists and Antagonists of Platelet Receptors

    Author : Carl Högberg; Kardiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Platelets; P2Y12; SUCNR1; FPP; hypothermia;

    Abstract : Platelets are central for the primary haemostatis. The platelet has surface bound receptors that are vital for the platelet activation. READ MORE

  4. 19. Complement receptor-mediated signal transduction in human neutrophils : A role for protein kinase C in the phagocytic process

    Author : Maria Fällman; Claes B. Wollheim; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The neutrophil granulocyte comprises the first line of human defense against invading microorganisms. A versatile motile machinery enables the cell to migrate to the inflammatory site and there engulf and destroy the pathogens by phagocytosis. READ MORE

  5. 20. Neuropeptide Y Receptors in Human, Guinea pig and Chicken : Cloning, in vitro Pharmacology and in situ Hybridization

    Author : Sara Holmberg; Helen Cox; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; G-protein coupled receptor; neuropeptide Y; neuropeptide Y receptor; ortholog; chicken; guinea pig; mutagenesis; receptor computer modeling; mRNA in situ hybridization; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi; medicinsk farmakologi; Medical Pharmacology;

    Abstract : Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is known to influence a vast number of physiological and behavioral processes such as vasoconstriction, circadian rhythms, feeding, anxiety and memory. Peptides of the NPY family bind to five different cloned G-protein coupled receptor subtypes (Y1, 2, 4-6). READ MORE
