  1. 1. Wheat Gluten -Based Materials and Composites: Extrusion, Casting and Antimicrobial Properties

    Author : Hasan Türe; Mikael Hedenqvist; José-Maria Lagaron; KTH; []
    Keywords : wheat gluten; extrusion; urea; montmorillonite; sol-gel process; hybrid materials; casting; compression moulding; potassium sorbate; antifungal; plasticiser; thermal; mechanical and barrier properties.;

    Abstract : The use of bio-based polymers as packaging materials has gained much attention due to increasing environmental concerns regarding non-biodegradable petroleum-derived plastics. Wheat gluten (WG) is a valuable renewable resource for the production of bio-based materials because of its low price, biodegradability, good film-forming properties and good gas barrier properties under dry conditions. 2. 2. Hardening Distortions of Serial Produced Gears

    Author : Anders Olofsson; Stefan Jonsson; Julia Gerth; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hardening distortions; crown wheel; main shaft gear; gear runout; back-face tilt; macrosegregation; ingot casting; continuous casting; case hardening; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Hardening distortions are unwanted changes in shape and dimension that arise during hardening of steel components. Uncontrolled distortions induce random errors to the manufacturing process, and have a strong negative impact on manufacturing costs. READ MORE

  3. 3. On the deformation behavior and cracking of ductile iron; effect of microstructure

    Author : Keivan Amiri Kasvayee; Anders E.W. Jarfors; Jens Bergström; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Spherical graphite iron; component casting; high silicon ductile iron; digital image correlation DIC ; in-situ tensile testing; in-situ cyclic testing; DIC pattern generation; pit etching; micro-scale deformation; micro-crack; finite element analysis FEA ; focused ion beam FIB milling; segjärn; komponentgjutning; högkisellegerat segjärn; digital image correlation DIC ; insitu dragprovning; in-situ cyklisk provning; DIC-mönstergenerering; grop-etsning; mikroskalig deformation; mikrosprickor; finite element analys FEA ; fokuserad jonstråle FIB avverkning;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the effect of microstructural variation on the mechanical properties and deformation behavior of ductile iron. To research and determine these effects, two grades of ductile iron, (i) GJS-500-7 and (ii) high silicon GJS-500-14, were cast in a geometry containing several plates with different section thicknesses in order to produce microstructural variation. 4. 4. Microstructure-based Mechanical Behaviour in Structural Analyses of Cast Components

    Author : Jakob Olofsson; Ingvar L. Svensson; Salem Seifeddine; Torsten Sjögren; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Component behaviour; Structural analysis; Mechanical behaviour; Casting process simulation; Finite element method simulation;

    Abstract : In the process of developing cast iron and cast aluminium components, the co-operation between product development and production is important. On the engineering level, this co-operation is limited already in the product development phase e.g. by the lack of established methods to consider the mechanical behaviour of the completed component. 5. 5. Simulation of Microstructure-based Mechanical Behaviour of Cast Components

    Author : Jakob Olofsson; Ingvar L. Svensson; Salem Seifeddine; Franco Bonollo; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Component behaviour; structural analysis; mechanical behaviour; casting process simulation; Finite Element Method FEM simulation;

    Abstract : In the process of developing cast iron and cast aluminium components, a high level of co-operation between product development and production is of great importance. From an engineering standpoint, this co-operation is limited early in the product development phase by e.g. READ MORE
