  1. 1. Composition and Optimization

    Author : Morgan Ericsson; Uwe Assmann; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; software composition; software reuse; optimization; high-performance computing; Datavetenskap; Computer and Information Sciences Computer Science; Data- och informationsvetenskap;

    Abstract : A recent trend in software engineering is to delay design decisions. One motivation is that requirements or properties of the application and environment are not known until later in the design and development process. This continues to hold for design decisions in a high-performance context where e.g. READ MORE

    Abstract : Humans play a major role shaping the living conditions for not only ourselves, but also all other species on Earth. In fact, some species-rich habitat types require human management to uphold the biodiversity and related ecosystem services. READ MORE

  3. 3. Flexible Composition of Robot Logic with Computer Vision Services

    Abstract : Vision-based robotics is an ever-growing field within industrial automation. Demands for greater flexibility and higher quality motivate manufacturing companies to adopt these technologies for such tasks as material handling, assembly, and inspection. READ MORE

  4. 4. Ecosystem services of wetlands and wetlandscapes under hydro-climatic change : Impacts of water flow and inundation patterns

    Author : Imenne Åhlén; Jerker Jarsjö; Peter Hambäck; Georgia Destouni; Andrew Frampton; Heather E. Golden; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrology; Ecohydrology; Wetlands; Wetlandscapes; Ecosystem services; Spatial Ecology; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Abstract : Wetlands provide ecosystem services valuable for human society and are therefore often considered as nature based solution to different environmental problems. However, with centuries of wetland degradation due to anthropogenic pressures, such as agricultural expansion and forest industry, as well as pressures from climate change, there are large challenges for sustainable wetland management. 5. 5. Consequences of bushmeat hunting in tropical forests

    Author : Edu Efiom; Biodiversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tropical rainforests; bushmeat hunting; primates; seedling recruitment; interseedling competition; community composition; functional traits; ecosystem services; human livelihoods;

    Abstract : This thesis evaluates the effect of bushmeat hunting in southeastern Nigerian rainforests on: 1) adult tree, seedling, and animal community compositions 2) germination and survival among seedlings in association with competition 3) changes in community composition at multiple trophic levels 4) leaf nitrogen concentration (LNC), leaf mass per area (LMA) and stem specific density (SSD) 5) on human reliance on forest resources and rural people use forest resources. Data for the first four evaluations were obtained from surveys, manipulative experiments in seedling plots and collected leaf samples in three pairs of sites with high (hunted sites) and low (protected sites) hunting pressure but with similar adult tree composition.
