11. Controlled Source Radiomagnetotelluric (CSRMT) Applications in Environmental and Resource Exploration
Abstract : An integrated use of radio magnetotelluric (RMT) and controlled source tensor magnetotelluric (CSTMT) measurements, the so-called CSRMT method, has been employed in environmental and resource exploration studies. A number of case histories, including a groundwater investigation in glacial deposits, a study of fracture zones for geotechnical purposes and a mining exploration study of a copper deposit, are presented in this thesis in order to illustrate the usefulness and capability of the CSRMT method. 12. Excited state dynamics in low-dimensional perovskite nanocrystals
Abstract : Two-dimensional (2D) perovskites have emerged as promising building blocks for optoelectronic applications. To fabricate high-performance devices, the relation between the material structures and their function in terms of excited state and charge carrier dynamics need to be well understood. READ MORE

13. Cell-protein-material Interactions on Bioceramics and Model Surfaces
Abstract : The objective of this thesis was to investigate and characterize the interaction between blood proteins and different surfaces with emphasis on protein adsorption to bioceramics and model surfaces. Special effort was made to monitor the spontaneous and selective adsorption of proteins from human plasma and to examine the orientation, conformation and functional behavior of single proteins after adsorption. 14. Fundamental Properties of Functional Magnetic Materials
Abstract : Magnetic properties of powders, thin films and single crystals have been investigated using magnetometry methods. This thesis provides analysis and conclusions that are supported by the results obtained from spectroscopic and diffraction measurements as well as from theoretical calculations. READ MORE

15. Innate Immune Proteins in a Crustacean Pacifastacus leniusculus
Abstract : Hemocytes (blood cells) are important in the immune defense against pathogens in invertebrates. In crusteacean, the hemocytes and plasma components mount a strong innate immune response against different pathogens including bacteria and virus. READ MORE
