  1. 11. Molecular Dynamic Simulations of Biological Membranes

    Author : Qaiser Waheed; Olof Edholm; Friederike Schmid; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phospholipids; area compressibility; undulations; quantum corrections; cholesterol; phase transition; segregation;

    Abstract : Biological membranes mainly constituent lipid molecules along with some proteins and steroles. The properties of the pure lipid bilayers as well as in the presence of other constituents (in case of two or three component systems) are very important to be studied carefully to model these systems and compare them with the realistic systems. 4. 14. Analysis and design of hydraulic cylinder seals

    Author : Elisabet Kassfeldt; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : Hydraulic cylinder seal performance is studied experimentally and theoretically. The seal performance is discussed in terms of friction force and oil leakage, which are due to the oil film build-up in the seal contact. The theoretical analysis is based both on calculated and measured contact pressure distributions. READ MORE

  5. 15. Dynamics of curved flames in compressible flows

    Author : Oleg Travnikov; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Influence of flow compressibility on propagation and stability of premixed laminar flames in gaseous combustible mixtures has been investigated. A linear analysis of the intrinsic hydrodynamical instability of a planar flame front has shown that the instability growth rate is very sensitive to the compressibility effects and can increase significantly even for rather small Mach numbers of the flame generated flow.
