    Author : Lennart Lundblad; Malmö Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; tomography; medical instrumentation; Clinical physics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Penh; emphysema; airway resistance; gas conditioning; plethysmography; lung mechanics; Boyle s law; Physiology; medicinsk instrumentering; Klinisk fysiologi; radiology; enhanced pause; pulmonary fibrosis; micro computed tomography; forced oscillation technique; COPD;

    Abstract : In this thesis we explore and further develop several techniques used in the animal laboratory as well as in the clinical setting. In particular, we expand the understanding and usefulness of plethysmographic techniques in small rodents. READ MORE

  2. 22. Low kilovoltage computed tomography to reduce contrast medium dose in patients at risk of acute kidney injury

    Author : Fredrik Holmquist; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Computed tomography; Image quality; Radiation dosimetry; contrast medium induced nephropathy; Iterative reconstruction algorithms;

    Abstract : Background: Patients with reduced renal function may be at risk of contrast medium-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) following intravenous iodine contrast medium (CM) enhanced computed tomography (CT). Reducing the CM dose may reduce this risk. READ MORE

    Abstract : Spectral computed tomography with energy-resolving detectors has a potential to improve the detectability of images and correspondingly reduce the radiation dose to patients by extracting and properly using the energy information in the broad x-ray spectrum. A silicon photon-counting detector has been developed for spectral CT and it has successfully solved the problem of high photon flux in clinical CT applications by adopting the segmented detector structure and operating the detector in edge-on geometry. 4. 24. Dysfunctional but viable myocardium - ischemic heart disease assessed by magnetic resonance imaging and single photon emission computed tomography

    Author : Martin Ugander; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medicinsk instrumentering; tomografi; radiologi; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiology; tomography; Clinical physics; non-invasive imaging; myocardial infarction; viability; Physiology; Fysiologi; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Abstract : The assessment of ischemic heart disease (IHD) often focuses on the detection of dysfunctional but viable myocardium which may improve in function following revascularization. Dysfunctional but viable myocardium is identified by distinct characteristics with regards to function, perfusion and viability. READ MORE

  5. 25. Computed Tomography of Acetabular Cup Wear and Effect of Surface Roughness on Wear and Oxidation of UHMWPE Hip Prostheses

    Author : Anneli Jedenmalm; Ulf Gedde; André Stark; Karin Jacobson; Nicklas Axén; KTH; []
