  1. 41. Application of X-ray Computed Tomography for Assessment of Additively Manufactured Products

    Author : Amir Reza Zekavat; Lars Pejryd; Leonardo De Chiffre; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Additive manufacturing; X-ray computed tomography; Surface roughness;

    Abstract : Additive Manufacturing (AM) is a novel method for fabricating parts from three-dimensional model data, usually by joining materials in layer upon layer fashion. The freedom of design in this method has resulted in new possibilities for fabrication of parts with complex geometries. READ MORE

  2. 42. Magnetic resonance imaging with ultrashort echo time as a substitute for X-ray computed tomography

    Author : Adam Johansson; Tufve Nyholm; Karlsson Mikael; James Balter; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magnetic resonance imaging; computed tomography substitute; ultrashort echo time; parallel imaging; radial imaging; radiofysik; radiation physics;

    Abstract : Radiotherapy dose calculations have evolved from simple factor based methods performed with pen and paper, into computationally intensive simulations based on Monte Carlo theory and energy deposition kernel convolution.Similarly, in the field of positron emission tomography (PET), attenuation correction, which was originally omitted entirely, is now a crucial component of any PET reconstruction algorithm. 3. 43. Cone Beam Computed Tomography in Evaluations of Some Side Effects of Orthodontic Treatment

    Author : Henrik Lund; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cone beam computed tomography; orthodontics; adolescents; root resorption; marginal bone height;

    Abstract : In the late 1990s a new imaging modality, Cone Beam CT (CBCT) that enables high quality three-dimensional imaging at lower doses than Computed Tomography (CT), was introduced in dento-maxillofacial imaging. In 2005 the Swedish Council on Health Technology Assessment (SBU), in a review of scientific articles on Malocclusions and Orthodontic Treatment in a Health Perspective, found low or contradictive evidence for an association between orthodontic treatment and risks for negative side effects. 4. 44. Diagnostic Accuracy of Tuned Aperture Computed Tomography (TACT®)

    Author : Madhu K. Nair; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The diagnostic accuracy of Tuned Aperture Computed Tomography (TACT) was evaluated for a variety of diagnostic tasks. Drawbacks of 2D radiography, lack of accessibility and high cost associated with advanced imaging modalities prompted these studies. READ MORE

  5. 45. Optimization of intravenous contrast media at computed tomography

    Author : Anders Svensson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The administration of intravenous contrast media (IV CM) is essential for detecting lesions at most computed tomography (CT) examinations. The overall aim of this thesis is to investigate different aspects of IV CM administration that may affect the quality of the CT examination. READ MORE
