22. Augmenting Transactional Memory with the Future Abstraction
Abstract : The advent of multicore systems spurred great interest in Transactional Memory (TM). TM is a parallel programming paradigm that coordinates concurrent threads by incorporating transactions into programming languages. READ MORE

23. On the control of virtual violins : Physical modelling and control of bowed string instruments
Abstract : This thesis treats the control of sound synthesis of bowed string instruments based on physical modelling. The work followed two approaches: (a) a systematic exploration of the influence of control parameters (bow force, bow velocity, and bow-bridge distance) on the output of a physical model of the violin, and (b) measurements and analyses of the bowing parameters in real violin playing in order to model and parameterize basic classes of bowing patterns for synthesis control. 24. Computer Simulation of the Neural Control of Locomotion in the Cat
Abstract : Locomotion is one of the most important behaviours and requires interaction between sensors at various levels of the nervous system and the limb muscles of an animal. The basic neural rhythm for locomotion in mammals has been shown to arise from local neural networks residing in the spinal cord and these networks are known as central pattern generators (CPGs). 25. Cyber-Physical Engineering of Distributed Automation Systems in Energy Domain
Abstract : The main focus of this thesis is in the domain of Energy Systems, specifically in the engi-neering of modern Smart Grid (SG) automation systems. The SG has been categorizedas a Cyber-Physical System (CPS), a complex system which exhibits tight integration between the cyber and the physical processes and their interactions in a networked envi-ronment.
