11. Quantitative immunochemistry in tissue sections : With special reference to urinary bladder carcinoma
Abstract : Urinary bladder carcinoma affects about 2 000 people in Sweden every year. It is a heterogeneous disease and for adequate treatment decisions, prognostic tools are needed. Many of these are based on immunohistochemistry (MC) and hampered by poorly reproducible methodologies and subjective evaluations. READ MORE

12. Towards single Ce ion detection in a bulk crystal for the development of a single-ion qubit readout scheme
Abstract : The work presented in this thesis was concerned with investigating the relevant spectroscopic properties of Ce ions randomly doped in an Y2SiO5 crystal at low temperatures (around 4 K), in order to develop a technique and an experimental set-up to detect the fluorescence photons emitted by a single Ce ion. The aim of the work was to determine whether a single Ce ion (referred to as the readout ion) can be used as a local probe to sense the quantum state of a neighbouring single-ion qubit via a state-selective interaction between the readout and qubit ion. 13. Single Cell Investigations of the Functional Heterogeneity Within Immune Cell Populations : a Microchip-based Study
Abstract : Immune cell populations are constantly divided into smaller and smaller subsets defined by newly emerging cellular markers. However, there is a growing awareness of the functional heterogeneities in between cells even within small populations, in addition to the heterogeneity over time. READ MORE

14. Dosimetry in brachytherapy : application of the Monte Carlo method to single source dosimetry and use of correlated sampling for accelerated dose calculations
Abstract : Three issues related to brachytherapy dosimetry are addressed in this thesis. (1) The prospect of using Compton scattering to measure energy spectra from a high dose-rate (HDR) 192Ir source is discussed and a Compton spectrometer evaluated. READ MORE

15. Dynamic Access Control for Industrial Systems
Abstract : Industrial automation and control systems (IACS) are taking care of our most important infrastructures, providing electricity and clean water, producing medicine and food, along with many other services and products we take for granted. The continuous, safe, and secure operation of such systems are obviously of great importance. READ MORE
