    Author : Eva-Maria Ekstrand; Bo H Svensson; Annika Björn (Fredriksson); David Bastviken; Jukka Rintala; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pulp and paper; anaerobic digestion; fibre sludge; activated sludge; condensates; bleaching wastewater; wastewater treatment; methane; degradability; nutrient recirculation; Pappers- och massa; anaerob nedbrytning; fiberslam; aktivt slam; kondensat; vattenrening; metan; nedbrytbarhet; näringsåterföring;

    Abstract : The pulp and paper industry is a large producer of wastewater and sludge, putting high pressure on waste treatment. In addition, more rigorous environmental legislation for pollution control and demands to increase the use of renewable energy have put further pressure on the pulp and paper industry’s waste treatment, where anaerobic digestion (AD) and the production of methane could pose a solution. 3. 3. Problems in Nonlinear Wave Propagation A Walk in Physics from Plasmas to Bose-Einstein Condensates with some Examples of Unifying Themes in Nature

    Author : Federica Cattani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nonlinear Schroedinger equation; Bose-Einstein condensates; plasma; laser; optics;

    Abstract : Waves are a phenomenon that can be found virtually everywhere in nature. A first description of wave propagation can be given in the linear limit, but the nonlinear regime of propagation is of the utmost importance, also in view of possible applications in several scientific fields. Abstract : In the present thesis, “Hydrodynamics of Binary Bose-Einstein Condensates and Hydro-elasticity of the Inner Crust of Neutron Stars”, the hydrodynamic effects, instabilities and superfluid turbulence in binary immiscible ultracold gases, and hydro-elastic macroscopic coupled modes and microscopic structure of the inner layers of the crust of neutron stars, are studied. The ultracold gas dynamics can be realized in the laboratory. READ MORE

  5. 5. Cold atoms in a variety of optical lattice potentials

    Author : Robert Saers; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In this thesis, both experimental achievements and theoretical preparatory investigationsfor future experiments are introduced. The experiments presentedare performed with the set-up used for laser cooling and trapping of rubidiumatoms, and the theoretical examinations are adopted for intended experimentson Bose-Einstein Condensates.
