1. Robot Skill Acquisition through Prior-Conditioned Reinforcement Learning
Abstract : Advancements in robotics and artificial intelligence have paved the way for autonomous agents to perform complex tasks in various domains. A critical challenge in the field of robotics is enabling robots to acquire and refine skills efficiently, allowing them to adapt and excel in diverse environments. READ MORE

2. Conditional and non-conditional reward-related responses to alcohol. Nicotinic mechanisms
Abstract : The mesolimbic dopamine system is believed to mediate the positive reinforcing and rewarding effects of addictive drugs by increasing dopamine levels in its terminal area, the nucleus accumbens (nAc). Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) within this system appear important for the pharmacological actions of both alcohol and nicotine, which may explain the frequent co-abuse of these two drugs. 3. Reinforcement Learning for Improved Utility of Simulation-Based Training
Abstract : Team training in complex domains often requires a substantial number of resources, e.g. vehicles, machines, and role-players. For this reason, it may be difficult to realise efficient and effective training scenarios in a real-world setting. READ MORE

4. Applications of Information Inequalities to Linear Systems : Adaptive Control and Security
Abstract : This thesis considers the application of information inequalities, Cramér-Rao type bounds, based on Fisher information, to linear systems. These tools are used to study the trade-offs between learning and performance in two application areas: adaptive control and control systems security. READ MORE

5. Hierarchical cellulosic reinforcement for composites: enhanced resistance to moisture and compatibility with polymers
Abstract : Cellulosic fibres (flax, hemp, regenerated cellulose) possess decent mechanical properties and they are gaining interest as an alternative to synthetic reinforcement (e.g. glass fibres) in polymers to reduce the petroleum consumption and pollution. READ MORE
